The "Fast Cash" Trap: Why Job Interviews are a Marathon, Not a Sprint 🛑🏃‍♀️ Let’s be completely honest. When you are looking for a job because the bills are piling up, rent is due, or you need money immediately, the waiting game feels like torture. You want an offer yesterday. When you go into an interview with that "I need money ASAP" mindset, it completely changes your energy. And as someone in HR, I can spot it from a mile away. Desperation makes us rush. It makes us accept toxic environments, overlook red flags, or bomb the interview because we are focused on the paycheck instead of the position. But life and your career? They are a long, winding road. Rushing into the wrong lane just to move faster usually leads to a crash. If you need a job quickly but want to make sure you actually land it, here are three simple interview tips to help you balance your urgent reality with long-term success: 1. Shift Your Energy from "Desperate" to "Driven" 🎯 The Trap: When you need money immediately, you might find yourself saying yes to everything, nodding aggressively, or giving the vibe that you'll take any job just to get hired. The HR Tip: Companies don’t hire people who just need a job; they hire people who want their job. Even if you are financially stressed, anchor yourself before the interview. Take a deep breath and remind yourself of your worth. Show them your skills, your drive, and your competence—not your financial urgency. 2. Prepare the Fundamentals (Don't Wing It) 📋 The Trap: Rushing means skipping preparation. You apply to fifty places, get a call back, and show up without even knowing what the company does. The HR Tip: Spend just 15 minutes before the interview doing three things: researching the company’s core business, matching your past experience to their job description, and practicing your basic "Tell me about yourself" pitch. A little preparation makes you look polished and intentional, which gets you hired faster than trying to wing it. 3. Ask About the Timeline Professionally ⏳ The Trap: Asking "When do I get paid?" or "Can I start tomorrow?" in the first five minutes is a massive red flag for recruiters. The HR Tip: It is completely okay to need a job quickly, and you can ask about the timeline! Just phrase it professionally at the end of the interview: "I am highly motivated to join the team and am ready to onboard immediately. Could you share what your typical timeline looks via the next steps in the hiring process?" This shows you are eager and available without sounding panicked. The Reality Check: The road of life is long. A quick fix today shouldn’t mean a miserable situation for the next year. Treat the interview process with the patience it deserves, even when it’s hard. The right doors open when you show up prepared, grounded, and focused on the journey. To those currently job hunting and feeling the financial pressure: take a deep breath. You've got this. Keep putting one foot in front of the other on that road. 💖💡 #HumanResources #JobHunting #CareerAdvice #InterviewTips #CareerJourney image

HOW TO DEAL WITH A BAD MANAGER AT WORK Dealing with a bad manager is one of the biggest reasons people leave their jobs, but before you hand in that resignation letter, there are ways to navigate the situation strategically. Here is how to handle a difficult boss in the Philippines, written from an HR perspective—broken down simply, legally, and professionally. 🛑 Step 1: Assess the Situation (Is it Bad Management or a Labor Violation?) In the Philippines, there is a big difference between a manager who is just bad at communicating and one who crosses legal lines. The "Difficult" Boss: They micro-manage, give vague directions, or are constantly stressed. While frustrating, this usually requires internal communication and boundaries. The "Illegal" Boss: They engage in Constructive Dismissal (making your work environment so unbearable or hostile that you are forced to quit), verbal abuse, discrimination, or withholding your pay. This crosses into Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) territory. 📋 Step 2: The HR-Approved Game Plan If you want HR to effectively step in and help you, you need to approach the situation with strategy, not just emotion. Here is what you should do: 1. Document Everything (Your Paper Trail) HR cannot act on "My manager is mean to me." We need details. What to save: Keep screenshots of inappropriate Viber/Teams messages, save passive-aggressive emails, and log dates and times of specific incidents. Why it matters: If you ever need to escalate the issue to HR or a higher executive, concrete evidence makes your case undeniable. 2. Schedule a "Clearance" Talk with Your Manager First Before going to HR, try to have a polite, documented 1-on-1 meeting with your boss. Use "I" statements instead of "You" statements. Instead of saying, "You always give me impossible deadlines," try saying, "I want to ensure my output hits the mark. Can we align on a realistic timeline for these tasks?" Follow up in writing: After the meeting, send a quick summary email: "Hi Boss, just to confirm our discussion earlier, we agreed that..." This proves you tried to resolve the issue professionally. 3. Know When to Escalate to HR If you have tried talking to them, your performance is being unfairly targeted, or your mental well-being is at risk, it is time to set up a meeting with HR. How to pitch it to HR: Present it as a productivity and workplace issue. Say, "I want to stay and contribute to the company, but I am facing roadblocks with my manager’s leadership style that are affecting my work. Here is the documentation of what has been happening." 💡 Crucial Reminders for PH Employees Don't Do a "Vanishing Act" (AWOL): No matter how bad a manager is, never just stop showing up to work. Going AWOL can lead to a formal Return-to-Work Order (RTWO), disciplinary action for Job Abandonment, and a ruined professional reference. Always protect your employment record. Understand Clearance & Final Pay: If the situation becomes too toxic and you choose to resign, remember that under Philippine law, you must render your standard 30-day notice (unless an immediate resignation is justified due to severe verbal abuse or safety threats). Your company is legally required to release your final prorated pay and COE within 30 days of your clearance. The HR Bottom Line: You don't have to suffer in silence, but you do have to protect yourself with documentation. Play it smart, keep your receipts, and always prioritize your career longevity over a bad boss's temporary bad attitude. 💡💡 #HRtalks #Badmanagersatwork #HrPartnerNostr image

🤫 Let’s Be Real: Is HR On Your Side or Pro-Management? (An HR Insider’s POV) It’s the oldest question in the corporate world, and it usually pops up when someone is having a rough time at work: “Can I actually trust HR, or are they just looking out for the company?” As an HR professional, I see this debate all the time on my feed. Today, I want to pull back the curtain and give you the unfiltered truth from my point of view. No corporate buzzwords—just real talk. ⚖️ The Honest Truth: It’s a Balancing Act If you ask a room full of employees, most will tell you HR is strictly "pro-management." And structurally speaking, they aren't entirely wrong. HR is hired by the company to protect the business, keep it running smoothly, and make sure it stays out of legal trouble. But here is the secret that many people miss: The best way to protect a company is to protect its people. When HR does its job right, we aren't choosing a "side." We are balancing on a tightrope. Think of it less like a shield for corporate bosses, and more like an internal referee. 🔍 How HR Protects Employees (By Protecting the Company) When HR steps in to help an employee, it’s usually because treating people right aligns perfectly with keeping the business safe and successful. Here is how that works in reality: Stopping Bad Managers: If a manager is toxic, abusive, or breaking labor laws, they are a massive legal liability to the company. When you report them with proof, HR isn't protecting that manager; we are stepping in to stop them before they cause a lawsuit or ruin team retention. Fighting for Fairness: When we advocate for fair pay, wellness programs, or clear career paths, we do it because keeping employees happy means less turnover. High turnover costs companies massive amounts of money. Enforcing the Rules Equitably: Company policies apply to everyone. Good HR will hold leadership accountable to the same employee handbook that everyone else signs. ⚠️ When Does HR Side with Management? We have to be realistic. There are times when HR will align directly with management, and you need to know when that happens so you can protect yourself: When there is no proof: If you come to HR with a "he-said, she-said" complaint about bullying without dates, emails, or witnesses, HR’s hands are tied. Without evidence, we cannot take disciplinary action against a supervisor. Performance issues: If a manager has a paper trail showing an employee isn't hitting targets or doing their job, HR’s job is to support the business by helping transition that person out legally and smoothly. Company-first policy calls: If the company decides to restructure, lay off a department, or change a policy to save money, HR is required to execute that strategy. 🟩 The Takeaway Is HR with you or pro-management? A great HR person is pro-fairness and pro-resolution. We want a workplace where you can thrive, because when you thrive, the business wins. #HRTips #WorkplaceCulture #CareerAdvice #HumanResources #EmployeeRelations #Nostr image

📄 Why Details on Your Resume Matter to Recruiters ✨ When I look at a resume as an HR professional, I only spend about 6 to 7 seconds on my first scan. If your resume is too vague or just lists generic duties like "handled daily tasks," it usually gets skipped. To stand out to recruiters like me, your resume needs to show proof of your impact with clear, professional details. Here is how to make it simple, easy to read, and impossible to ignore: 🔍 How to Make Your Resume Stand Out - Use Numbers (Metrics): Don't just say you are a "hard worker." Prove it! Instead of: "Handled customer issues." Write: "Resolved 50+ customer issues daily and improved team response time by 15%." Use Keywords: Many companies use automated systems to scan resumes before a human ever sees them. Make sure you include specific skills and tools listed in the job description so your resume doesn't get automatically filtered out. -Focus on Achievements, Not Just Tasks: Don't just list your daily chores. Write about the problems you solved and the value you brought to your team. 🛠️ The Simple Resume Checklist Make sure your resume includes these 4 clean sections: ✅Contact Info & Summary: Keep your contact details up to date and add a short, 2-3 sentence summary at the top explaining what you excel at. ✅Work Experience: List your jobs in reverse order (most recent first) with clear dates, job titles, and bullet points showing your results. ✅Skills: Dedicate a small section to the specific tools, software, and soft skills (like communication or project management) that match the job. ✅Education & Certifications: Keep your degrees, schools, and any extra training clear and easy to find. 🟩 Let's Fix Your Resume! Think of your resume like a clean, solid block on a ledger—it needs to be clear, accurate, and strong. When you focus on clear details, you show recruiters you are ready to bring real value from day one. ☺️ #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #HRRecruiter #SimpleResume #Nostr image

Target locked 🤲 I told myself that if ever I will have an excess money for the month of july to august, I will without a doubt gonna by this pair of shoes. This is I think good for hiking or running as well. But I will just use it at work for sure, hihi. I think I have shared already here that I love earth tones that is why when I first saw this New Balance shoes, my eyes can't get enough of staring at it. This costs $50 or less in Planet Sports, quiet pricey but somehow reasonable already... But of course I prioritize saving for now. 🫣 image

Happy Friday! ✨💖 Another week will just end in good terms. I really am hoping that saturday and sunday will be full of laughters and rest only. Yes, as always, I heard a lot of office dramas and rants. most of the time I do find myself cursing the memo document I am creating because sometimes I do feel that it is against my will... But then I have to be professional.

One thing I really am proud of is the gardening of my mom. She used to live in the province but when she got married here in Manila, she never went home to her parents. But her eagerness to plant different flowers and crops makes our house special. Sometimes she just picked here calamansi, herbs and spices. During pandemic, I tried to help her planting but I didn't see myself doing that for years at that time so I just stare at them and take a photo whenever I appreciate them. 💖💖
