In today's society, cross-defined dilution is particularly favoured by politicians and so-called experts and appraisers. Several different, even fundamentally contradictory expert opinions are not uncommon in all conceivable scientific fields today. According to the American philosopher Daniel Dennett, Sturgeon's Law generally applies: 90 per cent of everything is rubbish. Regardless of whether it is physics, chemistry, psychology, sociology, medicine, music or the number of employees in a company.
