A beautiful thought occurred to me today, in light of the day’s events and on the back of a very nice interview with Dion from @Bitcoin For The Arts
What if bitcoin wasn’t just a peer-to-peer electronic cash system, but actually the foundation for a MUCH grander aspect of Satoshi’s genius we are all helping to unfold?
Yes - Bitcoin as money is a HIGHLY necessary method to illustrate the root of most evils in this world, and the NGU technology was a very effective incentive to that discovery.
But look what else it’s done, that almost goes unnoticed:
We’ve created a highly efficient machine - a self-organising collective where each member contributes willingly according to skill set and passion, not to pay the bills, all towards the same shared goal of unfucking the world. A machine that is constantly under self-observation, correcting errors as they arise and communicating them quickly. Where members argue ardently about matters of great importance, but set differences aside when it matters. A collective with its own culture, its own language and values, where heroes stand only as long as their words and deeds uphold. With rapid channels of communication, and even a decentralised backup platform; a collective where grave mistakes are formed into valuable lessons, and iron truly is forged in the fire. A collective that has learned what TRULY matters.
And yes, very importantly, with its own, peer-to-peer pseudonymous electronic cash system.
We have done something incredible. We’ve effectively deprogrammed from the deeply engrained status quo of top-down information and decree, and we’ve learned that we can REALLY just do things, all in the space of a single generation.
So what IF we all get psyoped into a decision that will lay Bitcoin into the hands of the enemy, and it ultimately fails? We have formed an incredibly robust and impassioned collective that will find a rapid solution to that too. A second version maybe, shaped from the mistakes and successes learned along the way. And we’ll call it Bitcoin.
Satoshi gave us something to truly FIGHT for. And we’ve created one HELL of an army to do so.
