A quick update on my Rust journey. Long story short, the more I’m digging into it the more I’m excited about it… and the more headaches I get as well hehe :) It’s not easy at all but it is engaging for sure, at least for me, at least up to now. I’m at the very beginning but I already feel the power Rust can unleash if I get to understand it well. That’s why I’m thinking about looking for a “mentor” that can help me walk this path. <Thinking out loud/My two cents> Don’t know what’s happening in these last days of 2024 but I’m receiving zaps for the first time ever. It has been a lot of time since I was experiencing something new and forward like this and it’s amazing: it feels totally magic and unbelievable to receive and send real hard value so easily and quickly without any man in the middle between folks who don’t even know each others (and don’t have to). I hereby decide to use the sats zapped to that wallet as my official “zap reserve” to be able to zap others as well (poor shrimp pleb here). I think my journey into nostr is getting more and more exciting every time I open one of the many clients I’m toying with… It all started as a personal experiment in tech freedom (being tired of all the owned datasilos we were using before) and now I can’t wait to see what nostr will be like in the coming months and years. So excited from all of these, smells like ‘90s internet once again! Wish you all a very zapping new year! ⚡️🧡🫂

My today’s world troubles: - how can I be the most technologically sovereign and private and secure without losing the ability to interact with the current world? - what servers & services should I run and on which hardware? Ideally I would like the most foss solution possible with the less 3rd parties involved - at the end of the cable everything goes through tcp/ip to the internet thanks to an isp that provides me with the infrastructure. How can I be the most private and secure starting from my internal network up to the global network? - how can I keep all of the above when I’m not at the home base but moving around the world with mobile devices of any kind? - I’d like to plan my next steps in order to save myself from bad tech without compromising “ux” too much, considering also I got non tech savvy people I interact and share networks and stuff with.
