You know, I am all for privacy and using bitcoin as a medium of exchange and whatnot, but sometimes it looks like some libertarians are a little off in the discussion. I understand, you don't want nation states and multinationals to enter the bitcoin ecosystem. Neither do I, because that can make prices skyrocket and obliterate my ability to stack fat sats. But we have to understand something: it really doesn't matter the slightest bit what "we want" or "would like to happen". It also doesn't matter what we think bitcoin should be all about, but only what can be done with it under any circumstances. Hell, not even what Satoshi Nakamoto himself thinks of bitcoin really matters. A system's purpose is what it does. If governments start strategic reserves, that is what bitcoin is for; if people start black markets with it, that's what it's for; if BlackRock and the financial sharks launch etfs and all that shit, that is what bitcoin is for. If it can be done, it will be done, and like Ivan Drago said, "if he dies, he dies". This is true for everything. Think about using gold for industrial purposes, jewelry, coins, black markets, central bank reserves... Gold is what it is, and people will use it as they intend to, as long as gold in itself permits it. This is the beaty of bitcoin. Only bitcoin itself imposes limitations to its users. Not you, not the american government, not the fucking chinese communist party. If we had the power to stop nation state adoption, we would have already lost bitcoin, for it would be just another software like any other, where we can arbitrarily establish rules and impose our whims. The same thing applies to the "store of value or medium of exchange" problem. If people use it to trade, it is for trading, if they store it, it is for storing. "Oh but it was hijacked", so stop using it. You can't have your cake and eat it. If you like an altcoin, but it sucks and nobody wants it, and you wanted bitcoin to be like it so you could use it like that, maybe you would be making bitcoin shitier, and nobody would want it anymore, just like they don't want your shitcoin. Nothing is a "store of value" or a "medium of exchange" in and of itself. These are just accidental characteristics that things can have, and they even might have them one day, and not in the next. The debate doesn't even make sense. Not even gold is a store of value per se. We use it that way, that's all. To say bitcoin must be one or the other is like saying a shoe must be used either for protecting our feet or for warming them, but that it can't be both. If you are cold you can use them for warmth, and if you don't like to walk barefoot you can use them for protection. A shoe is a shoe, gold is gold, and bitcoin is bitcoin. Understand what it is and stop wishing for it to be what it is not. #Bitcoin #StoreofValue #MediumofExchange #BSR #BitcoinStrategicReserve #ETF

Apparently, brazilian #inflation is at 4.56% in the last 12 months. The #centralbank said so, so there's that. Sure looks like a little bit more, if you ask me, but I'm no fucking specialist

The gate at work was broken and wouldn't open. I'll tell you something... Climbing over a wall on your 30's hits different. Everything is fine now. The gate is open and my cramps are already gone ๐Ÿ™ I really need to get my excercising routine up to date

Surf the Kali Yuga my friends. God didn't ask Noah to stop the Flood, but showed him how to survive it. The struggle is real, but so are we, and in the end, we win. #SurftheKaliYuga #ChristisKing image

What is Power? Sup, fellas. The subject of the day is Power, for this is no simples matter and its name evokes many confusions and misunderstandings. It is usualy seen with suspicion, specialy in the libertarian circles. But we must understand that power is a natural consequence of human organization, and we must not confuse power itself with the social power structures, be them legitimate or not. I'll base this explanation mostly on professor Olavo de Carvalho's teachings. He has a two page collection of notes called Theses on Power (Teses sobre o Poder). I'll try and translate it later for you free people of #nostr land. Power, in its most universal meaning, is the possibility of action, and in the strict meaning it has in politics and political science, it means the possibility to determine the actions of others. Here are the three ways that power can manifest in society and individuals. #1 Wealth: the power of wealth is the power to offer or refuse a benefit. This is an indirect power, because it relies mostly on persuasion. It can he easely observed in the way markets organize themselves, where those who have wealth can leverage it to obtain something they want in return. Although money is not wealth in itself, it is a symbol of it, and therefore can be used to exercise this kind of power. The more wealth, the more control over others can be exercised through the promisse of benefits or the threat of refusing or taking away such benefits. #2 Violence: the power of violence is the one most properly called "power", for it operates in a direct and personal way. Power, in its purest form, is the power to kill. This power enforces the will of its wielder over others, and can trample the power of wealth at any time. A robber does't need to be wealthy, he only needs to be capable of using more violence than the person being robbed. It is this power that the State possesses. It is also this kind of power that #Bitcoin manages to bring to cyberspace for the first time. #3 Intelectual: the intelectual power is the power of the human spirit, of authority. It does not have the means to impose itself, therefore it is the most impersonal and indirect power. Although it can hardly be used directly by its author, it is the most powerfull and profound of the three, because the power of ideas indirectly moves the other two in their actions. A man with a gun is most likely using it because he believes in something, and this something can hardly be atributed to his own intelect. His ideas come from traditions and schools of thought. He is governed by men who are long gone. Marx exercises no personal power over the communist movement, Ludwig von Mises has no personal power over libertarians, and neither has Saint Thomas Aquinas over catholics, and yet, their ideas govern hundreds of thousands of men through time. Like Auguste Comte said (maybe one of the only things he got right), the living are governed by dead philosophers. These modes of power can be used actively or passively, and are amoral in themselves. They are merely the instruments of human action. #Power #OlavodeCarvalho #Softwar #PoliticalScience #Philosophy

Following @Jason lowery logic in #Softwar, #Bitcoin could kill the dead internet theory by making it hard for bots and AIs to spam the internet with non-human content. @npub19tss...l90z also talks about spam control in a Bitcoin powered global mesh network. I think it would be interesting to think of ways to integrate #Nostr in this "proof of work wall" system inside this new possible "Bitcoin internet". Things like forcing coments or likes to cost a sat or something like that... Didn't give it much thought yet, but it got my curiosity
