Activity 4- Share Your BCHNostr Account Creation Story (Nostr nostr: @nengste Learning Hub) Stepping into the world of crypto as an absolute beginner feels like arriving in a foreign country where everyone speaks a different language. When I first heard about BCHNostr—a decentralized, a Nostr protocol, Bitcoin Cash (BCH), relays, public key, zap?, everything sounded intimidating. What??? However, setting up the account turned out to be an eye-opening journey filled with initial confusion, a not so few technical hurdles (googling every foreign word I encountered😜), and a sense of accomplishment when I finally finished setting up. Unlike other standard social media apps, Signing Up with Google account or a button for "Forgot Password" option is available. There's non on BCHNostr, It's like you have your own your identity into the world of crypto. The app instantly generated two long strings of random characters which is your "Public key" (this serves as your username or address where people can find you). And most importantly your password or your "Private key" wherein If you lose this, you lose your account forever and if someone else gets it, they can own your account. First TIP: Make sure to save it, write it or copy it into a secured file folder before anything else👍. First error I made was taking a screenshot of my private key to save it for later. Immediately, a security prompt flashed, warning me that cloud-synced screenshots are vulnerable. I realized my mistake—if my phone backed up that photo to the cloud, my security was compromised. Another TIP: Avoid making screenshots of your important notes (passwords, usernames, and keys). Another intimidating step to complete is setting up the wallet. In my mind, huh! Which wallet? Setting up a BCH wallet gave me anxiety. Before, I only use gcash wallet and now there's this Bitcoin Cash wallet with so many intimidating figures and with colored up and down graphs. Every step that involves the wallet felt like high-stakes for me. Figuring out which button to click in the BCH wallet app just to look for the correct wallet address to input into my BCHNostr account is so confusing for a beginner like me. Just so lucky I have friends whom I can ask whenever I'm not sure of what to click . Another TIP: IF YOU ARE NOT SURE, ITS OK TO ASK.👍 Created my account, edited my profile, wallet successfully linked, SO WHAT NOW?WHATS NEXT? This is where the excitement sinks in. I planned for hours on what to post as my 1st ever post in a brand new environment. A little hesitant coz I'm not sure how the community embrace a new comer like me. But to my surprise, they are all so welcoming that It felt like it's the same community I once belonged to. Now I am very excited to engage and to be more visible into the platform and looking forward to join and even host some exciting activities. And for my last TIP: Take It Slow: Don't let the technical jargon scare you off. You'll get used to it. image
