I relate to this song. Throughout my 28 year teaching, 32 year coaching and 8 year hospice chaplain careers I’ve hit roadblocks, experienced pain and felt like I’ve been on the brink of giving up (probably like everyone else). In all of it I’ve tried (and at times failed) to trust that God would give me the strength and peace to make it through every circumstance, and to learn and grow stronger from the pain. He has never failed to show grace, especially when I’ve submitted my will to His. Sometimes my prayer is simply, “I Need You”.

Finally wore out my baseball spikes after 5 years.

This verse reminds us that with our words we breath life or kill, build up or tear down, encourage or discourage, make people feel worthy or make them feel worthless. Today, moving forward let’s speak life (compassion, forgiving, loving words) to the people we come in contact with, especially those that are close to us.
