And yes, before people ask, I am also working on a proper YT like transcoding for the videos with HLS and all that jazz. Main reason for delays is making the thing autonomous and requiring zero human oversight to ensure high quality results is not as simple as one might image (unless you are a big tech company with tons of money), which involves spending some upfront capital with no return on investment to perform ungodly number of transcodings and analysis to optimize for the best result. Sorry for extensive delays, we are getting close. For the record, if your video is under 400MiB and was transcoded under your supervision into a single +faststart mp4 in h265/h264 (avc/hevc) you will see no difference between HLS/DASH and single mp4 when served from nostr.build, range reads and proper caching close to your location is what makes it work and fast to seek or play.

Interesting, zap.observer has been under DDOS attack from South America. Sucks, since it’ll cost me real cash for running a free service. Mitigating now though 🤦🏼‍♂️
