Day Three of Being Laid Off After a 20 Year Career
I spent days one & two taking care of family insurance details, but also emailing 70-80 clients & suppliers to let them know I was no longer with the company.
In turn, I’ve spent dozens of hours fielding email replies, text messages, & phone calls.
I can’t dismiss the fact that it’s been emotional, & my adrenaline & cortisol have been running at an incredibly high level.
Bizarrely, it feels like I’ve just lost a close family member. I’m coming to terms with the fact that those comfortable, dependable days when you know exactly what to do, where you fit in & how to maneuver are now behind me.
I know those days are also somewhere out in front of me again. But right now, they just feel a long way off.

coffee. family. bitcoin. craft beer.
gym. sandwiches. tequila. gardening.
it’s kinda true in my case.
I was an early internet adopter so I did pull off some adjusted plagiarism.

arguing with a retard is a sign of retardation.

After getting canned from the company yesterday….
I’m embarrassed to admit that I conceded to my wife’s request…
I turned off all but one of our daily Bitcoin DCA and we are now stockpiling fiat in a high-yield savings account until I land a new job.
Then the real DCA’ing is back on, bitches! 💪🏽🟠

Tough day today. After 20 years with the same privately held company, I got my pink slip. Yep… sacked, fired, corporate downsizing. Fkn Brutal.
More than a decade on the leadership team, it certainly feels like the company may be positioning itself for a sale & maximizing the bottom line.
Either way, here I am, in my mid-late 40s figuring out the next major chapter of my life.
* Also, please disregard any previous career advice I may have given. That milk did not age well🤦🏻♂️
💪🏽💯

🥔 🤔

I blame lawyers & insurance companies for the pussification
of America today…
because just 30yrs ago it was like…

👀 this just absolutely fkn
blows my mind 🤯
SpaceX Falcon 9
The everyday workhorse. 70 m tall, skinny (3.7 m wide). Nine engines, about 1.7 million lb of push. Puts ~23 tons into that near Earth parking orbit. Lands its first stage & flies it again.
SpaceX Falcon Heavy
Three Falcon 9 boosters strapped together. Same height, much wider at the base. Twenty-seven engines, 5.1 million lb of push. Puts ~64 tons into LEO if you don’t reuse everything. The two side boosters usually come home.
SpaceX Starship
The giant. 124 m tall, 9 m wide. Thirty-three methane engines on the booster, roughly 17–18 million lb of push. Designed to put 100+ tons into LEO & bring both stages back. Today 9/28 it flew its first orbital mission with first operational satellites.
LEO = Low Earth Orbit
That’s the “parking lot” just above Earth, about 160–2,000 km up. Most satellites & the space station live there. “Tons to LEO” is the standard way to say how much cargo a rocket can haul into that near Earth orbit.
