One of the best days of our lives turned into one of the shittiest. We were enjoying the mountains and my mom got serious heart problems at high altitude. It was sad because this marked the last time my parents were high up with us in the mountains. After this we decided to take a trip down. During this trip my wife @Sanne snapped her bottom leg straight through the middle. Both bones have been put together with steel again, but the question is what she will be able to do again in the future with her leg…

What is your passphrase best practice? Was asked about the following setup: @Foundation Passport, uses encrypted backup with SDcard. Access code to unencrypt is in physical distributed location that would take significant time to travel. SDCard only is a risk as it can burn/break etc. So the client uses a physical steel backup with 24 words, again a different location. On a different location holds the passphrase on steel. How do you rate this setup? There’s redundancy in both the SD Card, Steel seed phrase and steel passphrase. Do you think a double backup for the passphrase is required? Would love more input on best practices around this. @QnA @Bart Mol image

2024 will become the restart of the Satoshi quote. We’ve been working hard towards this and we’re going to “bring the bank home”. On the video you see the 12kw (we could fluctuate between couple hundred watt and 18KW) heater where we heated the @Bitcoin Magazine Amsterdam conference. We created these QRs to our website to make sure we would distribute more hash. The entire rack consisted of 12 silent s9s that were distributed as home heaters and excess electricity consumers across the Netherlands after the conference concluded. image View quoted note →

Received a special request for the Dutch version of the fiat standard today. Directly sent it out for @Saifedean Ammous. Off course some fitting stickers come with it 😉 image

The miners in this conference probably didn’t notice. But this timechain with transaction blocks was right in front of our hotel @Bitcoin Atlantis. Every morning we had breakfast outside. Our 10 month old Otis Sha (anagram for satoshi) was exploring the area. The enormous space he had gave big smiles, which unfortunately we had to cover because of privacy reasons. He might make his picture public when he’s old enough to decide for himself to spread his face on the internet. I was hoping to meet one person during this conference which I didn’t know if I was going to. That was @Gigi and the strange thing is, we met. Without an appointment, just at a lunch place where @hodlonaut was waiting for him. There were a thousand things I wanted to discuss but the double hug was enough. Meeting so many great people in such a short time span takes it toll. I knew the rollercoaster ride would be wild, but not this wild. Thanks @André Loja for your personal time and making this conference reality. I believe we’re at the start of something bigger here.

Someone at the conference is running around with this t-shirt. The one who guesses who this is first wins 21 sats zapped straight into their correct comment 😉 As this wise man on this t-shirt once said: “don’t sell your bitcoin” I’m more of the don’t exchange something valuable for something you don’t think has value… I value a correct comment at 21 satoshis 😉 image

My wife doesn’t use social media. Finally got her to join us on Nostr to post her experience at bitcoin Atlantis. Hope she enjoys the experience via @primal she mostly enjoys the offline world. To give you an idea: we brought old mechanical cameras for our pictures, she bakes sour dough bread for us daily, she loves gardening, nature and animals. The love of my life takes me out of the digital world and keeps me down to earth. ❤️ View quoted note →

I feel rude sometimes. Just walking up to people who don’t know me to thank them for their proof of work in the bitcoin space. Thanks and sorry for bothering you, but I mean it and have to get it off my chest. Nice thing is, once I’ve thanked you, I won’t bother you anymore 😉 🙏

After many requests we decided to combine Adopting Bitcoin Arnhem with a #bitcoin mining workshop. The day before the conference we'll enjoy mining basics, s9 silent building, some soldering to create a hydro s19board and other technical fun. We'll tell you about mining now and show what we are working on. There are only 30 spots available and we ask an entrance fee of €21,-, because the cost of renting the venue was a lot. After the workshop the bitcoin core dev meeting will take place, we will cover the rent of the venue for that. If you want to attend the core dev you'll have to RSVP with them. To attend the workshop you can DM or RSVP via: Join me at Bitcoin mining workshop with Bas & Bert
