Bitcoin, Terry Pratchett, 🇵🇸
Sir Terry Pratchett on freedom. It kinda explains why there are so few of us using Bitcoin and on nostr; "On the other hand, Freidegger, in Modal Contextities, claims that all freedom is limited, artificial and therefore illusory, a shared hallucination at best. No sane mortal is truly free, because true freedom is so terrible that only the mad or the divine can face it with open eyes." — from Going Postal
Sir Terry Pratchett on religion. He wasn’t a fan. “Humans! They lived in a world where the grass continued to be green and the sun rose every day and flowers regularly turned into fruit, and what impressed them? Weeping statues. And wine made out of water!” — Small Gods
Am rewatching ‘Heroes’ on Netflix and frankly it’s better than I remember. It fucking AWESOME!!!
Sir Terry Pratchett on the “wrong kind of people” “And so the children of the revolution were faced with the age-old problem: it wasn't that you had the wrong kind of government, which was obvious, but that you had the wrong kind of people. As soon as you saw people as things to be measured, they didn't measure up." — Night Watch
My prompt to DeepSeek was “Give me a prompt to illustrate the sound the universe made befor the big bang. Use your imagination” It gave me this “ An impossible, visionary artwork visualizing the **primordial tone before time**: an infinite, pressure-less void of absolute black that somehow *vibrates*, a single impossible frequency suspended as a luminous cymatic pattern frozen in mid-bloom—geometric harmonics of liquid mercury and fossilized light spiraling inward toward a silent, pearl-white singularity that is not yet exploding but *straining*, humming with the tension of an unplayed note. No stars, no space, only the ghost of acoustics made visible: warped topographies of non-existent echo, inverted soundwaves curling like smoke through four-dimensional crystal, deep blacks bleeding into infrared indigos and muted auroras that have no sky to glow in. Surreal, metaphysical digital art, style of James Turrell meets Zdzisław Beksiński, mathematical beauty, negative space, monolithic silence rendered as texture, 8k, ethereal volumetric lighting from no source —ar 16:9” Which then gave me these images
This is DeepSeek interpreting the poem, Dulce et decorum est (Wilfred Owen) Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs, And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots, But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of gas-shells dropping softly behind. Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time, But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.— Dim through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,— My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori” image
I’m going to give Ai poems and ask them to illustrate it on a single image. I gave DeepSeek “If I must die” by Rafaat Alareer and the image it came up with was much darker than I thought. So they got me interested.
I asked DeepSeek to imagine a prompt for “If I must die” by Rafaat Alareer. Turned out darker than I expected image
I wish children didn't die. I wish they would be temporarily elevated to the skies until the war ends. Then they would return home safe, and when their parents would ask them, where were you? They would say, we were playing in the clouds. Palestinian poet, Ghassan Kanafani (1936 - 1972)
@primal this is a bit embarrassing but I searched #nsfw (I’m not proud of it but it’s done 🤷🏻‍♂️). But I cannot delete it and it reminds me every time I look at search. Pls allow me to delete it 😳
Sir Terry Pratchett explaining Plato’s cave 😂 "Life in this world," he said, "is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say, humbly, ‘Go on, do Deformed Rabbit.'" — Sir Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
"What have I always believed? That on the whole, and by and large, if a man lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out all right." — Sir Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
Something has clicked for me in the last few weeks. I understand that if we don’t spend Bitcoin, Bitcoin isn’t money. I used to feel guilty about not spending Bitcoin cos I never found anything that was worth more than Bitcoin. Now though I want access to compute and AI without being tracked by my credit card and I find I’ve got absolutely no issues with spending Bitcoin. My point is don’t feel guilty. You won’t want to spend your Bitcoin until you do. Then you’ll be actively looking for ways to spend it.
I’m a bit weary about posting this cos the last time I boasted about my Hermes Agent it crashed and it took me a week to get it back up. But I’m bursting and need to share. So I’ve got a MacStudio 36GB and I’m running Hermes Agent with gemma4:31b locally with ollama and now I’ve added qwen3-vl for ‘vision’ also locally on ollama. But what I’m most proud of is the Apple account for this computes is registered to my agent (used @npub1mea2...qane and for the sms - used Netherlands). I’ve then got GitHub via Apple ID, agent Mail, signal, and various things linked to my agent only. I’ve set up a skill where my agent upgrades to @Maple for complex things. I also used @PayPerQ to run Hermes using opus 4.8 which burned through money and didn’t achieve much. Gemma4 takes time but it gets it right. Much better than GLM-4.7 which I was running earlier. Now I just need to figure what to do with all this power. Done. Feeling better. Thanks for listening.
