Does using paid relays like nostr.land or nostr.wine change the experience much? What are the most visible effects?

Using Proton VPN full-time on desktop and mobile works pretty well. I’ve been testing for about a week. So far, the only real difference is that some social media sites require me to be signed-in to view content. Even Banks work now. Even the performance of the VPN is much better than it was previously. The speed penalty is negligible.
With a similar experiment a couple of years back, half my banking services wouldn’t let me log in. My Twitter account would frequently get locked out of the blue. I don’t think there was a way to view Reddit at all either.
Gonna let the cute gold digger “accidentally” see my Satoshi balance. Let’s hope she’s bad at math.
I know somebody with a dozen domain names and still no website
Eagerly awaiting the first Bitchat meet-cute story
Disappointed because someone already registered onlyzaps.com
If it's Swift, I vibe-coded it while watching a movie.
If it's Python, I took turns with the robot.
If it's C/C++, I might have grudgingly accepted an autocomplete along the way. But it hurt my pride.
If it's 680x0 or 6502, it's Friday and I'm back on the bottle. But it's really damned good code.
Damus on desktop is one crashy boi. It hangs a lot, usually when opening my own profile.
What causes Nostr to simply forget all the people I've followed? I've only been using it for a day, and I already have to start over.
Release early, and release often. But I don’t know if #bitchat should have shipped without a prominent on/off switch.
In the long term, I’d love location-based dead zones. I don’t want to announce my home-away status so readily!
