BitcoinWalk Munich last Saturday –
every Sat 🚶🏻 ♀️🐕☀️
33 degrees, bright sunshine and a fantastic route along the water.
My highlight of the tour? A teeny-tiny navigation error with absolute added value! When we took a wrong turn to get to the beer garden, another BitcoinWalker and I didn't take the way back on foot – but jumped into a side arm of the Isar and swam with pleasure with the current towards the finish.
Thematically, there was also a lot on offer at this walk:
🔐 The Coldcard Incident
A topic that is currently moving the entire Bitcoin space. It was a shock for many: Even if you do everything "right" – i.e. don't leave coins on exchanges, but rely on self-custody and use hardware wallets – there is no absolute security. A real reality check for the community.
What had happened?
In several waves of attacks, over 1,800 BTC (currently equivalent to approx. 110 to 130 million US dollars) were stolen from thousands of affected addresses.
The reason was a code error from 2021 in the coldcard firmware. The randomness of the master keys was so low that attackers could simply guess the affected seeds using brute force and thus obtain the Bitcoin – without ever having physical access to the devices.
⚡️ Blackout and other disasters
It was also about the question: How justified is the concern about a nationwide power outage really? Is it worth stockpiling? And how do we deal with the various challenges in uncertain times? An interesting thought came up: Isn't it about completely different things in the end if we want to prepare for crises of any kind? Physical fitness, mental strength, good relationships with each other?
Bitcoin is so much more than money or a store of value.
Ethics.
Personal responsibility.
Freedom.
The BitcoinWalks are about all this and much more.
"With every step, we are moving towards a future in which economic freedom, decentralization and personal sovereignty are a matter of course. Bitcoin Walk invites you to discover this future together – every Saturday, anywhere in the world."

In 1645, a week before his death, the undefeated Samurai Miyamoto Musashi gave away his possessions, retreated to a cave, and wrote 21 precepts on a single scroll.
He called it the Dokkōdō - The Way of Walking Alone.
