I like to have some kind of structure for my art projects and collaborations. Usually this means defining the art supplies/media and a theme or topic. For #myArtPoetryCollab project with @Sacred Peak , I search for lists containing words related to Time. Putting all those words in a spreadsheet resulted in 832 entries. Then I took out the duplicates and phrases and ended up 339 entries. Then I went through, one by one, and left the ones I liked, resulting in a 211 word list. This list will be used to pull the titles for the digital collages that will end up in our ebook of art and poetry. #art #artstr #artprocess #poetry #rustypuppyart

Travelled to visit an art gallery that had a collection of Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman’s work. Early (age 14) stuff up through recent years. He’s 94 and still painting. The gallery was mostly empty on a Friday morning. The curator of the exhibit was there and asked if I wanted a tour - hell yes! So awesome to see not only the paintings but to also hear the thoughts and process that went into how they were displayed - order, groups, position within the exhibit…. if you stood in a specific spot, you could see 4 paintings that featured trees that spanned across decades of Bateman’s life, all slightly different, but similar in theme and colors. Mom has this amazing, single stalk sunflower growing on the side of her house. So many heads branching out near the top that it looks like an orrery (model of the solar system). Art neighbor showed me how to do encaustic (hot wax) on photo paper. So. Much. Fun!!! 1. My papers. Will cut up most for collage parts, thought the silver one could be turned into a landscape with some more work. 2. Extra wax, scraping tool, and photo paper she gave me to play with. You use the front/shiny side of the paper - showed the back in case anyone wanted to know what brand. 3. Thin white lines created with a scraping tool to remove the wax and let the white of the paper show through. #art #artstr #encaustic #rustypuppyart

I picked this up a month ago, then got distracted by the 5 Heartstriker books and Argylle, but once I started it, I finished it in 3 days: The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune This is one of those books that is written as fantasy to be able to comment on reality, and while the subtext isn’t that sub in some places, it was secondary to the great, well-defined characters for me. Written in a close POV, you follow Linus, a worker a the Department in Charge of Magical Youth in his investigation and evaluation of a unique orphanage in the system that is classified due to the extreme magical nature of the children kept there. It’s a story of found family and growth and seeing individuals as they are instead of how others have told you they should be. It is a stand alone novel, with a sequel coming out in September 2025 called Somewhere Beyond the Sea, that, from the blurb, takes place very soon after the events in this book. #bookstr #books #reading #tjklune #fantasy #magic #children #rustypuppyreads
