Finished the 3 art cards for the 3 ladies I know having hip replacement surgery this Summer. Each word was chosen for a specific person. I included some progress photos, so you can see how I started with a single sheet of watercolor paper, drew the design, couple layers of watercolor, then used an ATC (artist trading card) template to decide where to cut the art cards. Used a metallic gold paint pen and fine liner pens (Micron 08, 02, 005) for details. I meant to spray the cards with a fixative, but had a huge headache at the time and grabbed the spray varnish can by mistake. Turned out fine. Added the punched letter words last. #artstr #art #artprocess

I like giving art cards a colored edge. Gives them a “finished” look. Using a brush pen works, though there’s the chance of adding unintentional marks to the front or back of the card. Been there, done that. Another (easier) way edge is to use an ink pad. Archival ink is permanent, so that’s my preference. #artstr #artprocess

Finished the cheetah collage. It’s the first in a sketchbook I’ll be exchanging with a friend once a month. Looking forward to seeing what she adds on the next page. In addition to the metallic watercolor, I added colored pencil to get closer to a natural cheetah fur and eye color, and re-colored the spots with a Micron pen. Very back flower layer is a paper napkin. Went through a few iterations before I was happy with how it supported the front layers. #art #artstr #collage
