Finishing shit is a valuable skill, especially in corporate and project environments. But on a personal or freelance level, I’d say knowing when to walk away is just as important. When something clearly isn’t going anywhere or when its nature changes along the way.. It’s like knowing you can just say no without feeling the need to explain yourself.

I just remembered a cool thought shared with me by an artist I respect very much. It goes: “Coldplay are for people who don’t get Radiohead.” I would respect him even more if he weren’t a Radiohead fan, but I let that one slide :)

I’m checking out fiat work opportunities on a regular basis, and sometimes I even apply for the gig. Let’s call it my guilty pleasure, keeping an eye on the overall market situation. What worries me about the application process is that social media presence (esp linkedin) carries some serious weight. Sometimes even more than the portfolio itself. In other words, when I’m asked about it and say that I don’t do social media, eyebrows are raised, and it kinda feels like I’m instantly being red flagged. (I even saw a few job application forms that had a mandatory linkedin URL field.) What’s also weird is that most business/market people I know, some of them in pretty high places, they go - sure, linkedin is one big fake and bizarre space, but for the sake of biz, I can’t afford not to be there. And note that this isn’t some ad and marketing thing, it’s purely personal branding issue, and in terms of social media culture, building your personal brand is therefore actually pretty limited, because you need to fit into that culture. Add in using a nickname and a bandana portrait and I’m a no go even for “young and progressive” collectives. And by the way, the exact same goes for most of bitcoin companies I tried to reach out to, too. That’s messed up, right? It’s not just in my head…? 🤯

Very happy about the chance to design this Bible. This edition includes extra pages featuring testimonials from people today about Christ’s presence in their lives. Those testimonies and many more are also available as videos as part of the STORY316 project.

The new Ari is OK at best. It’s been more than six years since her last strong record, with only a few exceptions (supernatural) which is like forever. I think she believes she’s making art pop, or even prog pop now, but it’s desperately short on good songs.
