For lunch break, between an espresso and a cigarette, I propose Rossini's "The Barber of Seville", Act I Finale, with Joyce DiDonato as Rosina and Juan Diego Flórez as Count Almaviva. Did you know that the premiere (February 20, 1816, in Rome) was a complete bust? Only after that did it start to gain traction and become the success we all know it to be.

For your morning coffee, a short moment with Bobby McFerrin and Yo-Yo Ma playing Rimsky-Korsakov’s "Flight of the Bumblebee". If you want to take a deeper dive into this, their collaboration began with their 1992 album "Hush" (more than two years at the top of the Billboard Classical).

A few pictures from Juan-Les-Pins, where every year there's "Jazz à Juan", a famous festival that dates back to 1960. This year, it takes place from July 9 to July 19. If you have kids and don't want to pay the tickets, the venue is right at the park and you can listen to the music for free, with a bottle of wine, while the little ones are having a good time too.

Herbert von Karajan and Berliner Philharmoniker performing Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World". (Berlin Philharmonie, 1966) Watching this black-and-white video, I can't resist asking myself how it would be for us to be able to watch Bach or Mozart, for example. 🤷

"Siegfried’s horn call." As a side note, or a "fun fact", the coincidence is that Klaus Florian Vogt was a horn player before becoming a tenor. Still, the horn that you hear is played by Giovanni Emanuele Urso, principal horn player. View quoted note →
