Swung by the plot on my way home from the fiat mine.
Chopped back the Echinacea, saved the seed. Then dug up the root and divided it up and replanted.
A little experiment in propagation. Fingers crossed it works. π€π»

Here's a reminder to all English men and women..
Remember your heratige. Live by the standards set by your ancestors..
They called it trial by ordeal.
It lasted centuries.
Then in 1215, on a riverbank in England, they wrote something down that changed the world forever.
No free man shall be imprisoned except by the lawful judgement of his peers.
Not the king. Not the church. Not a lord. Twelve ordinary people.
In 1670, a judge locked up a jury for refusing to convict.
Starved them for two days. They still refused. One juror, Edward Bushel, took it to a higher court. And won.
From that moment, no judge in England could ever punish a jury for its verdict.
Over fifty countries use trial by jury today. All because eight hundred years ago, ordinary people decided that guilt was too important to leave to kings.
Note the FREE, βNo Free man shall be imprisonedβ¦β¦β in the clause.
This Free Man phrase is used throughout Magna Carta.
The rights granted in this charter were for nobles only. Not common man, slaves and women.
In 1215 βfree manβ mainly meant barons and landholders, not serfs. But hereβs what happened next. In 1354, Parliament expanded it to βno man, of whatever estate or condition he may be.β Thatβs every person in England, regardless of status. Then Bushelβs Case 1670 cemented jury independence for good. The whole story of English rights is ordinary people taking what the powerful wrote for themselves and making it belong to everyone

Its arruved, its hump day ππ»
Mid week at the fiat mine, its all down hill from here..
Got a few plans for after the shift. Mainly splitting a Echinacea plant as an experiment in propagation as the seed seems sterile..
Have a great day folks, soon be the weekend ππ»

In 1763, the British government arrested 49 people for being connected to a newspaper article. π¬π§πΊπΈ
The article criticised the King.
They didn't name a single suspect.
They just issued a warrant: Arrest everyone. Printers. Publishers. Anyone who touched it.
Dragged from their homes. Thrown in cells. Most of them had nothing to do with it.
The man they actually wanted was John Wilkes. MP. Journalist. By all accounts the ugliest man in England. But nobody could shut him up.
They locked him in the Tower of London.
He sued the government. And won.
The court declared general warrants illegal. Never again could the government arrest unnamed people for unnamed crimes. That's because of him.
So Parliament expelled him.
The voters of Middlesex elected him again. Parliament expelled him again. The voters elected him again. A third time. Parliament threw him out a third time.
Then they gave his seat to the man who LOST the election.
"Wilkes and Liberty!" echoed across London. And across the Atlantic β American colonists named streets and towns after him.
He still wasn't done. In 1771, it was illegal to report what MPs said in Parliament. The debates were secret. So Wilkes set a trap. He encouraged printers to publish the debates. Parliament tried to arrest them. The printers appeared before Wilkes....
Who was now a City magistrate.
He set them free. Then arrested Parliament's messenger instead.
Parliament backed down. The press has reported on Parliament ever since.
One man gave us: freedom of the press. Protection from arbitrary arrest. The right of voters to choose their MP.
The end of secret government...?
His memorial reads: "A Friend of Liberty." πΊπΈ He earned it.
One man gave you the right to know what your government does.
Englishmen, remember who you are....

Fiat mining all done.
Popped into the allotment on the way home to pick up some over wintered Oregano to fullfil some orders. Also cut up and split one of the esthablised plants.
And then grabbed some comfrey to cut up and replant to grow on.
Another successful day ππ»

Found a cool little website and youtube channel about #UK and #british history.
Not entirely sold on the "never taught this in school" argument. I certinly was. And as a history buff and an avid reader as a young man i know i learned a lot of this.
I can definitely recommend looking into the history of Friendly Societies..
Some times looking to the past can shine a light forward to the future.

That's the jobs done for today.
Had to pospone the server build. The micro pc was from an office and i cant see a way to boot from USB in the bio.
But with only a 250GB ssd in there swapping it out for a 500GB one seems a decent upgrade as well as a problem solution.
Snack and movie time now i think π€
Enjoy your evening yall ππ»ππ»π¬
