Some inspiration for rethinking the social compute enabled experience: “How can we align our interests with what living organisms and systems naturally do? How can we yoke ourselves to what they’re doing so that our relationship is no longer exploitative, but rather one where we’re putting existing capabilities to productive ends? That might mean adapting how we work, how we think, and what we’re building. But I can guarantee that whatever comes out of that approach will be more fascinating, generative, and sustainable long-term than what we have now.” Particularly interested in new experiences that are non-exploitative. Living through Web 2.0 feels like surviving a slash and burn approach to co-existing with nature where there were some benefits but at such enormous costs.

Huge thanks to @Global Sports Central for their 2024 Olympic Coverage and partnership with nos.social. In addition to seeing some incredible Olympic highlights and behind the scenes stories we gained valuable insights about dedicated content relays. We’re excited to see where this heads in the future! 🎉

Brought my mom and niece to a pick your flower farm this weekend and we had the best time! Picking flowers and then making bouquets at home! The best part: the flowers are lasting much longer than pre-bought bouquets!

One of the things that is depressing about Generative AI and imagery is that the outputs all start to look the same - high gloss illustration/ animation-y. Today the only popular magazine cover that features art in the states is The New Yorker. Previously Life, Time and others often featured original art. This link features a set of prints from agricultural magazine covers of the previous century. The amazing thing is the wide diversity of art and styles and even mediums. We need AI to clean bathrooms not do art. #art

Excited to share an interview we did with a couple of the Nos Creator Residents who stream on Nostr. Having worked on streaming software elsewhere I learned that technology has enabled streamers to single handedly do the work of 10. What used to require videographers, audio engineers, lighting specialists etc is now undertaken by the streamer. It’s quite incredible when you think about it. It’s also the reason Nostr has the potential to change the game for these creators. Both @Lou and @inpc are at different stages of their streaming journey but both were excited about the experience streaming on Nostr offers. Check out the interview and give them a follow!

Evening wildlife encounters. Walking the dog I startled two of these owls. This one was so mesmerized by my dog that I was able to get a photo. image Later we were walking back to the car in town and spotted this doe chilling in someone’s front yard. image Not pictured: the juvenile black bear walking across someone’s driveway.

Nostriga Workshop Proposal! Sometimes you build something and no one is using it. Often people chalk it up to marketing issues and call it a day, and sometimes it is a variation of a marketing issue, but often it comes down to one of three things: - The thing you built solves a problem that people aren’t that interested in solving - The thing you built solves a problem, but you haven’t quite found the audience it solves it for - The thing you built solves part of the problem, but needs some tweaks to see real adoption. You can understand which sector your product is in by talking to users, however asking them directly will often not get you honest answers. I’ve proposed a 90 min hands-on workshop at @Nostriga on how to ask the right questions when everyone is lying to you. Based on over 10 years of user research experience and tips from Rob Fitzpatrick’s book, The Mom Test, this workshop will help you identify the right questions to ask to understand where to take your product next. Interested in seeing it happen? Please take a couple of minutes to like it on Github. https://www.momtestbook.com/

This is incredible and shows the demand for rail service in the US. I remember being in an office building with a very small non profit years ago who railed against the replacement of rail tracks with bike trails. They were correct- it was not the best move in many cases. View quoted note →
