I planted a mimosa tree today that I started from a seed. I collected that seed from a Vietnam war vet in New Mexico last October.
He lives across the street from my father, also a Vietnam vet.
The reason for my visit last year was to assist my dad with the home hospice passing of my stepmother from cancer.
His buddy lost his wife to cancer a year prior, they have become close.
This tree will be nice to sit under someday and reflect and remember life. Hopefully I can do so with my dad before he passes.
Heavy note, but it’s the most significant thing I did today, everything else was routine. Felt like sharing with my Nostr team.
Now to spend time with my family after being gone all week on business.

We finished our first batch of homegrown onion powder using our freeze dryer. Turned out really well. Will be making garlic powder next. Wife has been selling to friends and family.
The green beans are still producing and we are blessed with an abundance!
My first batch of hard cider started today. Looking forward to trying around Christmas.
Used all local apples. Honey crisp from an orchard, heirloom red delicious from a buddy and unknown crab apple variety from a random strangers front yard.
Finished my cider press project and turned out my first batch of juice. Now for the fermentation! It’s taken all summer but I’m happy with the outcome and thinking of renting out the experience for fall festivals or social events.
