How do you figure out which ChatGPT model to use to do something like kitchen design? There are 6 to choose from. Currently using 4o for everything. I am picking that coding, writing and graphics are the dominant use cases for consumer level LLM’s. Anyone using ChatGPT for residential interior design? #asknostr

Kitchen design with AI update No.2. I uploaded a second more detailed layout image to ChatGPT and asked it to compare/contrast and note any detail differences. It did a great job of noticing the additional fridge/freezer info, the appliance garage, the structural beam location and size, the work triangle, the upper cabs and their depths and the pocket door to the laundry. It also asked design focused questions for all of these and some accompanying comments and suggestions. One positive outcome was a list of questions that it wanted my wife and I to discuss around potential changes. They weren’t stupid questions either. I am about ready to make a first draft of the new layout now as a result of the momentum gained by the experience so far. Kitchen design with AI update No.1. I uploaded this simple diagram of the current layout to the ChapGPT project folder that I created for this exercise. I am genuinely surprised at the level of information it was able to parse out. I asked it to review the drawing and request any additional information it felt was missing. It couldn’t quite locate the cooktop/oven. You will notice the cooktop is drawn in but there is no oven drawn. It also asked for upper cabinet details as well. It then made a few design suggestions as well as asked a number of pertinent questions about current use, possible bottle necks and how the natural light worked through out the day. I will now do a v2 adding requested info and see what happens. #design #ai #kitchen

So I have started designing a new kitchen for my house. I’m going to use this exercise to test the new ChatGPT projects feature. I designed, and installed another not so simple mid range kitchen last October so have a pretty fresh backdrop for comparison. Genuinely interested to see if it enhances or hinders my workflow.

One of the most thoughtful material gifts I’ve ever received was an upgrade from a cheap kitchen knife to a mid level one. It really did make an experiential difference! #foodstr #knife
