The following is a quote taken from Anthony Pompliano’s latest YouTube video “Bitcoin is about to FLY as they print money.” 22 June 2025. While talking about Bitcoin’s Compound Annual Growth Rate or CAGR Pomp said the following starting at 5:22… “I don’t think it’s going to stay at 65%, you know, I also don’t think it’s going to be below 20% for the next five years and so if they continue to extrapolate that out, compounding works wonders as you know, it’s the eighth wonder of the world. You don’t have to change that percentage that much, if you go from sub 20 to let’s say 35 or 40% and you extend it from 5 to 10 years you get a very different number at the end of that timeframe.” I hope that Pomp knows that just because you can allocate a compound annual growth rate or a CAGR percentage to Bitcoin’s price action doesn’t mean that Bitcoin‘s price action is the RESULT of a compound annual growth mechanism. Surely not! Compounding growth might be the eighth wonder of the world, but it has nothing to do with Bitcoin’s price action. Allocating Bitcoin a CAGR is so that you can compare it to traditional finance vehicles that pay out an annual yield which gets folded back into the principal year after year. It’s just a way to view gains from #bitcoin AS IF it was subject to a compounding mechanism. CAGR turns an Apples and Oranges growth comparison into a level playing field for the analyst to review. Nothing more.
