Bruce the rescue pumpkin UPDATE: No.2. Things are moving quickly here. I wasn’t prepared to take on the responsibility of a rescue life form. It came out of the blue and I just went for it! I knew that Bruce would eventually need his own bed so when I saw these frames sitting on the side of the road I grabbed them. At 750mmx1100mm (2.5ftx3.75ft) I thought great, they will work perfectly! I stacked and screwed them together to form a raised bed. That will mean I can line trim and mow without freaking Bruce out. I had a bunch of dirt lying around so sieved it into the box to clean out debris and unwanted weeds. I mixed in a 30ltr bag of organic veggie mix to do a bit of enrichment. Why did I put it next to the fence? I have this idea about training Bruce to climb the fence and be off the ground. I will have to figure out the support but I’m sure it will work. I haven’t planted Bruce in his new bed yet. I’ll see how he is doing tomorrow 😄

I would like to introduce Bruce to you. He is my rescue pumpkin. On a whim I saved a few seeds from a store bought pumpkin 1/4 three weeks ago. I thought why not see if there was any life in them. I dried them out on the window sill and planted one lonely seed… and what do you know, this guy popped up yesterday! Bruce and I are now friends. Say hello to Bruce 😄
