I was talking to #[0] about this today, and I think I need to open the discussion up to everyone.
I was on a Twitter Spaces today with some Tesla peeps, and one of the speakers said that (after mentioning that he had only researched this 18 months ago) ASICs "wear out more quickly" when used for load balancing because they "don't like being turned on and off". Not sure I buy this, as I turn mine off and on using a power switch all the time with no issues. Further, I would guess that miners balancing the grid aren't just "pulling the plug" but are curtailing using software. Have any of you heard of this, and do you buy this argument? What is the counterargument?

Is Timechaincalendar down?
Im watching the Midjourney Discord generate a new image every few seconds, none of it real. It runs 24/7. An exponentially accelerating body of untruth being created and disseminated around the world. What happens when you can't trust anything? What happens to our kids who grow up NEVER trusting anything they see/hear?

Not only does the line between good and evil run through everyone’s heart, but the line between fiat and bitcoin runs through everyone’s heart ...
Has anyone come up with a quick, efficient way to onboard a small group of people with a wallet and some sats? For example, after teaching a "what is Bitcoin?" session, how can I quickly get everyone to download a wallet and send each of them some sats? I'm talking about a group of 10 up to maybe 50.
What's really going to be insane is if the Govt sold all of their stolen/seized BTC into the market bottom, now have zero exposure, and immediately every bank, business, and person moves in and the price moons.
Watching the difference between Bitcoin Nostr ("Bitcoin is good, I'm good, it's all good, how are you doing?") and Twitter ("EverYTHinG Is BREaKING OFUCK OFUCK OFUCK!!?!?!?!) is quite interesting. I'm glad I don't really live in that world much anymore, it's so stressful.

Has anyone seen/heard of a project that anonymizes/privatizes purchases of "vice" products (beer/wine/marijuana/contraceptives/etc)? It seems like an obvious place where nostr/lightning could work. There is no reason why the random person working behind a counter needs to know that I purchased a bottle of wine, just that I'm old enough.
I know I have heard some discussion of this, but I can't find anything.
