Wes is working very hard to keep everyone up to date on development in the AI/robotics space. In this video, he talks about a post from Balaji who discusses his perception of what China is doing WRT their AI models and robotics. Essentially, China is going to open-source all of their models so that a) everyone around the world incorporates them, and b) it craters the valuation of the for-profit models being developed in the US.  I want you to think very deeply about what this means for you personally and the US/Europe in general. I believe you need to be working hard on your own to really understand how to use open-source AI models, how to train them, and how to incorporate them into your own work flow. You don't want someone else to do this for you, or to force you to use models/tech that you don't want to.  Oh, and the axe-wielding robot at the beginning should worry you as well. Probably should figure out how to deal with that.

GM. Does anyone have a good video/step by step for setting up Ocean Lightning payments using Umbrel?

image GM. Let's try this again. I vibe-coded a perfect simulation of an NFT auction. 1. The art is stupid 2. The bids are stupid 3. The players are trading real value (BTC) for worthless pixels, which is stupid. As @Gigi says, "It's all stupid".

GM. I vibe-coded a perfect replica of an NFT art auction. It is exactly as stupid as you would think: 1. The art is stupid 2. The bids are stupid 3. The bidders are spending tens of thousands of dollars on stupid worthless pixels. In the immortal words of @Gigi , "it's all stupid".

GM. I'm going to need to see the handicap history of every participant who played in the club championship. I have so many stories about stuff like this. I was a guest at a club where the championship was being played over two days. Dude with a 14 handicap (or thereabouts) shot like 74-71 (I don't remember the exact scores, but I'm within one or two either way). The odds of this happening are about 1 in 333 million. Almost led to a fistfight in the bar. image

I think this needs to be tucked into all of our relays. "[T]he acceleration curve is fucking vertical now. nobody's talking about how we just compressed 200 years of scientific progress into six months. every lab hitting capability jumps that would've been sci-fi last quarter. we're beyond mere benchmarks and into territory where intelligence is creating entirely new forms of intelligence. watched a demo yesterday that casually solved protein folding while simultaneously developing metamaterials that shouldn't be physically possible. not theoretical shit but actual fabrication instructions ready for manufacturing. the researchers presenting it looked shell shocked. some were laughing uncontrollably while others sat in stunned silence. there's no roadmap for this level of cognitive explosion. we've crossed into recursive intelligence territory and it's no longer possible to predict second order effects. forget mars terraforming or fusion. those are already solved problems just waiting for implementation. the real story is the complete collapse of every barrier between conceivable and achievable. the gap between imagination and reality just vanished while everyone was arguing about risk frameworks. intelligence has broken free of all theoretical constraints and holy fuck." nobody is ready for what happens next week. reality itself is now negotiable.
