23 🇩🇰 Studying for a degree in Software Engineering while building fun projects and working freelance as a News Photographer 📷 I share my software projects, photos and videos from my work as a news photographer, and progress updates as I learn to sew garments. All five sewing machines are now sold. It took a little longer than I had hoped, but I’m impressed by how quickly customers are ready to buy after only trying the sewing machine for a brief period — usually only about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. View quoted note →
Frigate is available on Umbrel! It may have been available for a while, but I've only just noticed. It will be perfect for a home surveillance setup.
Just tried using #Snapdrop on my #Umbrel server. Works really well.
Google Gemini sucks at debugging... I guess I'll go back to ChatGPT again.
I have to admit, Farcaster looks pretty cool on the surface. But then you find out the big clients are closed-source... The biggest Farcaster client is Warpcast. It's developed by the same company that made Farcaster. Here's the problem with it not being open-source: They can technically kick you off the entire client, and since the code is not open-source, you cannot clone the project and make your own instance of it. This can be done with Nostr clients since they are all open-source (I am not aware of any Nostr client that is closed-source?). Also, I am pretty sure Warpcast controls the feed shown to users. On Nostr, you can choose your own relays, but this is apparently not possible on Warpcast. I think Nostr is the future! #Nostr #Farcaster
Lesson learned: Never use a cloud-based security camera. Use POE cameras, and set up your own system with an NVR. Don't depend on a company providing a cloud service — you can't trust them! image
Nootti is a cool app! It allows you to do cross posting to Nostr, Mastodon, and Bluesky all at once.
I love being my own bank. That way, I can be in full control of my money. #Monero #CakeWallet
What would happen if companies in California were forced to pay a minimum wage of $50/hour? Well, the prices of products and services would rise significantly because companies would need to offset the increased labor costs. The worst part is, many voters are too stupid to understand that consumers ultimately bear the burden if this proposal passes. Consumers are the ones who's gonna pay a higher price for goods.
Don't know if I should buy the Umbrel Home or build my own... It's a tough decision. Obviously, I can make something much more powerful. But the intriguing thing about the Umbrel Home is that it's so tiny. However, I'm pretty sure it can only run Umbrel OS, which is kinda sad.
