“At every moment keep a sturdy mind on the task at hand, as a Roman and human being, doing it with strict and simple dignity, affection, freedom, and justice—giving yourself a break from all other considerations. You can do this if you approach each task as if it is your last, giving up every distraction, emotional subversion of reason, and all drama, vanity, and complaint over your fair share. You can see how mastery over a few things makes it possible to live an abundant and devout life—for, if you keep watch over these things, the gods won’t ask for more.” #stoicism #stoic

“The Paramount case is different because it tied all of this together into a coherent system: a politically motivated lawsuit, regulatory leverage from a federal agency, and non-monetary concessions that directly alter editorial behavior. It’s the dream scenario for any would-be strongman: state-sanctioned speech control without the pesky optics of state control.”
Thanks for everyone that replied to this and gave us ideas. Unfortunately Bonnie passed away last night. I never expected we’d get attached to chickens like we have but we were all pretty sad that she died. The two orpingtons we had were our friendliest ones.
Thanks again, friends. 🙏🏼

Hey chicken farmers, I have a question for you. One of our nine week old birds started doing this this afternoon. Have you had a chicken do this? What do think is wrong with her? Sounds like she’s wheezing…
We think it might be something stuck in her throat, gape worm, or heat stroke. Thoughts?
“Take a good hard look at people’s ruling principle, especially of the wise, what they run away from and what they seek out.” - Marcus Aurelius
Leaders must maintain guiding principles because they can't explicitly prepare for unpredictability. These principles exist for everyone, although they may be more or less explicit from person to person.
We want leaders who think hard about their principles.
