It’s November 12. International CJD Awareness Day. I hate “raising awareness” campaigns; they’re like a rocking chair, they give you something to do but get you nowhere. I dream instead of a world where you can be blissfully unaware of CJD because we cured it. This is the only future that matters to me and it could be less than a decade away. F*ck awareness. Bring on the CURE. I have said this for 21 years. I do NOT want to bury another family member to this thing. I do NOT want autopsy to be the only definitive diagnosis. I want cures. I want clinical diagnosis. I believe I’ll see it in my lifetime. Cheers to the problem solvers. The researchers. Those of us who have pushed and pushed. Hat’s off to the folks who blew up their lives to dedicate them to solving this. And respect to all of us who had our lives blown up. I didn’t ASK for any of this. I do not want this. Any of it. And yet, I have always done my part like so many of us have. For 21 years. It was never going to be easy, but it will always be worth it.

I shouldn’t have to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s office to get a business to do the right thing. I hate big companies even more now 😈 It’s so on.
