Both Big Corporations and the State want the same: To intermediate every human interaction. One for profit, the other one for control.

Between doing good and extending power, democratic agents will always latter because they believe they can always do good *later*. It is only when good intersects with extending power (ex a popular measure with clear positive outcome) that good gets done.

Open source is going to eat the world. Open source doesn’t go out of business. It just keeps growing, adding exponentially to what existed before.

Tomorrow is election day. How can democracies produce such poor leaders? Goodharts Law. To put the “best” leaders is power, we use elections. So candidates optimise not for quality but to win elections. And so worse leaders arise.

Any state could now feed an open source LLM with the laws of the land and let anyone check them while on the toilet. Imagine the existing inertia in the system because of the psychological burden of not knowing if you are compliant when you take some economical/financial/social risk
