this is exactly the problem programmers are getting dumber and less knowledgeable so every few years we need a new, dumber, easier to use abstraction pasted on top of the pile of abstractions we've constructed so far image

imagine if engineers in other fields were afraid to touch core aspects of their design because they were indoctrinated to believe that nobody can do it correctly image

"websites have amazing functionality now" yeah because the browser has become an OS in an OS on top of an OS that's not a good thing, and it is *wildly* inefficient. the browser tax is enormous, it's like 3-5% efficient in general and sometimes less than 1% you've got an 8 core 4.5 ghz machine and doing shit in the browser feels worse than using a native application on a 200 mhz pentium. but hey, you can have lots of bad experiences in parallel now instead of one at a time! image

what happens to the animals if we don't need them for food? they either can't survive in the wild because they've been domesticated for 20,000 years, or they become terrible pests like hogs just kill them all? you know, so they can't suffer image
