Bitcoin and Monero

The biggest issue I have with the idea of privacy being solved on a different layer of bitcoin is that every layer still has to settle on Bitcoin network which is still traceable so this will always be a weak link in privacy. Same way Monero has been “traced” in the sense it was swapped with Bitcoin and or sent to a KYC exchange. So it doesn’t really solve the problem in its entirety, it might be better than nothing but still not ideal. What am I missing?

I only criticize bitcoin because I love bitcoin. I think the biggest threat isn’t “spam” at all the biggest threat is KYC, chain analysis and mass financial surveillance. The UTXO sets that fall outside the KYC realm are diminishing and also gives you a smaller pool of probability to go untraced even if you do acquire it without KYC. If you read the white paper you will see the section on privacy relies on not associating your identity to an address. Most UTXOs at this point are tied to identities. If you don’t see an issue with governments having access to all UTXOs that you own as an issue I don’t know what to tell you.

If lightning was as private as Monero wouldn’t they ban exchanges from using it? 🤔 💭
