I am studying for my computer networking course, and I'm pretty sure Bridgy Fed is a gateway, not a bridge.

People use passive language when talking about the genocide in Gaza. Israel and Netanyahu are "letting Gaza starve", as if starvation is the natural state for humans. It's not. Naturally, humans in Palestine eat and trade and thrive, as they have for 10000 years. This famine is engineered; 60 years of occupation and siege, 2 years of total war on civilians, and murderous policy. It's no more "letting" starvation happen than choking a human being is "letting" them stop breathing.
Our black locusts (Robinia pseudoacacia) are flowering. They smell wonderful and look magical.
I'm sorry to hear Jagmeet Singh lost his seat. I wonder what happens next for the NDP. I know he doesn't automatically lose his role as leader, but it's not great. And it's not clear what the NDP role in government will be.
Justin Trudeau was prime minister of Canada for over a decade. When the polls turned against him, he stepped down, let himself be replaced by a strong party leader, got the hell out, and shut the hell up. He did it all well, and ensured that his party would remain in power. It was skillfully done.
Let's say you wanted to create a throwaway dynamic Web API in a few hours; for example, for a hackathon or a demo. How would you build it and deploy it?

I am so grateful to be part of the fediverse with you.
#CosocialCa has anyone else read Naomi Klein's "Doppelganger"? She's got a whole section on publicly-owned and user-owned social media. I wonder if we have a connection to invite her to join CoSocial.
So, one weird thing about parasocial relationships is that people feel familiar enough to make what seems to them to be fun, teasing comments with their Internet pal.
For the person on the other side of the relationship, it's yet another rando with anger issues coming out of the aether to ruin their day.
Don't pretend to be someone you're not -- an angry person, a stupid person -- with people who don't know who you are. They can't tell that you're pretending, and will take you at face value.
I'm not irresponsible; I'm differently responsible.
Thanks to everyone who's using CWs for live tooting the Republican presidential primary debates.

All right cosocialists of #CoSocialCa !
The World At Six tonight had a segment about evacuees from #Yellowknife having problems posting news to their friends and family about the fire because Meta is blocking Canadian news links.
What can we do to help?
We will not avoid #ClimateChange. It has already begun. The migrations, wars, extinctions, storms, wildfires and heat waves are already here.
But we can make this century much better for humans and other living things if we act now.
The most likely scenarios are temperature rise between 1C 🤞🏼 and 4C by 2100.
There is a huge difference in misery for all life with every decimal point of temperature change.
It's not a game that we "win" or "lose". It's a situation we can make better or worse.
I'd like to start a #ClimateChange action group among my friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to talk about climate news, read and discuss climate change books, and mutually encourage climate action.
How do I do this?
I'd love to find a program like WorkForClimate, which helps employees form green teams in corporate workplace, but for personal groups.

Her: "I have a Reply Guy problem on Mastodon."
Him (to himself): "I do *not* have a Reply Guy problem on Mastodon."
Him (to himself, further): "This is probably because I am Very Good At Mastodon."
Him (an epiphany): "I should give her some advice to show everyone how Very Good at Mastodon I am!"
Hi, fediverse Web and mobile client developer.
What if you added a speed bump in the reply flow to slow down users for just a moment?
"Do you really want to reply to X? Will they appreciate your reply?"
Maybe just the first time they reply to someone; maybe easily turned off in settings.
If it makes people think for just a moment, it might help with making the fediverse a more welcoming place for women.
