GM! I’m happy to pay in BTC and support BTC only companies. But static pricing in sats is not workable at this stage of adoption. For now we need dynamic pricing based on USD converted into sats. Almost everyone is still earning in USD and even when everyone gets paid in BTC, the amount of sats will likely decline over time. Expecting me to pay 40%+ more than a few months back when the good or service is essentially unchanged is a poor value proposition.
Dad hack: if anyone in your household sets the thermostats to 72 F or 22 C or higher then you can just turn off the heat altogether, disconnect the thermostat, and set it on the kitchen table. They either learn out how to reconnect it or be cold and you save on your utility bill. Win Win.
Strike loans are not available in my area of the USA, and even if they were higher rates and lack of proof of reserves are deal breakers. As an alternate I have taken out a small 6 month loan via Lava.xyz (minimum loan size as low as a $1k) at 8% plus a 2% origination fee. Will report back on overall experience, but the origination took < 5 minutes and was super easy. So far so good.
GM! A few months into Strike Bill Pay + Privacy.com to pay all bills and online purchases. Conclusion: pretty great and will keep using. I would love for BTC direct payment to become more widespread, but until then I think this is the best sovereignty minded personal finance combo out there.
GM! Using social validation to attempt to find truth is highly inaccurate and problematic in both normie life and BTC. The experts ( your favorite BTC influencer or dev) told me X therefore I believe and do it. Better to go to primary sources and think for yourself from first principles: 1) actually run and use a node for self custodial BTC transactions, a node you don’t actually use is a pointless LARP. In Bitcoin only economic nodes matter. 2) attend your local BitDevs and don’t be afraid to ask questions that seem basic, people are super kind with new people - we all love talking about Bitcoin 3) read Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas, slowly and perhaps several times, then go to BitDevs and ask about the confusing parts Running purely on social validation of who you like just ensures you never actually learn anything for yourself and you forever remain an NPC.
GM! Love the open debate of Nostr. The X crowd blocking comments and then screaming about censorship is the height of hypocrisy. I’ll take someone on Nostr who disagrees with me but is open to respectful debate over the X crowd blocking everyone any day.
