Good morning folks βοΈβοΈ
Think getting paid in Bitcoin to different addresses each month keeps you private? Think again.
Last week on #FREEDOMTECHFRIDAY, Breno explains how behavioral fingerprinting -- same amount, same day, same source -- makes it trivial for chain analysis to link your addresses, even without address reuse. And he predicts governments will soon require companies to disclose their wallet addresses, making this even easier.

Chain analysis companies have sophisticated tools to cluster your Bitcoin addresses, trace your spending patterns, and infer your identity from on-chain behavior. They sell this to governments and corporations.
Until now, you had no way to see what they see.
On last week's Freedom Tech Friday, we sat down with Breno and Jorge, two builders from Brazil who created Stealth - an open-source Bitcoin wallet privacy audit tool.
You paste your public wallet descriptor, it runs 12 different heuristics locally (address reuse, consolidation patterns, dust attack detection, behavioral fingerprinting, change detection, and more), and shows you exactly where your privacy is leaking.
The conversation got really interesting when asked about making Stealth into a library that any wallet developer could integrate -- and offered to help fund its long-term maintenance.

Good Morning Folks π«‘βοΈ
The US Treasury just told Congress that crypto mixers serve valid financial privacy purposes. The same agency that sanctioned Tornado Cash.
They drew a distinction between custodial and non-custodial mixing services and stopped short of recommending new restrictions on non-custodial mixers.
Words on a page for now, but a notable shift. We break it down on the latest Bitcoin Brief.

Stealth is an open-source Bitcoin wallet privacy audit tool.
Paste your wallet descriptor. Get a report showing address reuse, common input ownership violations, dust exposure, change detection weaknesses, and 8 more heuristic checks, all run locally.
Same techniques chain analysis firms use. Now in your hands. We're covering it all later today on FTF.
10AM EST / 2PM UK on the Ungovernable feed.

Chainalysis has your Bitcoin wallet clustered, your change addresses flagged, and your spending patterns mapped. But do YOU know what they can see?
A new open-source tool called 'Stealth' runs the same heuristics against your own wallet, and shows you exactly where your privacy might be leaking.
We're breaking it down on #FREEDOMTECHFRIDAY tomorrow, with @brenorb - 10AM EST / 2PM UK. No that EST time is not a typo. Daylight savings π

Morning βοΈ
Cake Wallet just made self-custodial Lightning as simple as on-chain Bitcoin. No channels, no liquidity management, no extra seed backup. Just a toggle.
On FTF 32, Seth demos the whole thing live and goes deep on the technical decisions -- Spark's statechain model, privacy improvements over Wallet of Satoshi's implementation, why Arc wasn't the right fit for mobile, and what blind signing could mean for future privacy.
The practical takeaway: "if you can write down 12 words, you can use Lightning now. And you don't need a custodial wallet to do it."

Ungovernable Misfits β’ Cake Adds Lightning β‘ | FREEDOM TECH FRIDAY 32 β’ Watch on Fountain
A weekly live show covering all things Freedom Tech with Max, Q and Seth.Lightning Journey: https://blog.cakewallet.com/our-lightning-journey/Light...
FTF 32 is out!
Cake Wallet shipped self-custodial Lightning in version 6.0, powered by Spark. Seth walks through everything: the journey from scrapping their LDK implementation to choosing Spark, how the privacy model works (VPN-style -- Spark operators see your transactions but nothing is published publicly), why they chose Spark over Ark, and the path to blind signing that could give near-Monero-level privacy to Lightning transactions.
The live demo is worth watching on its own. Every Bitcoin wallet in Cake is now a Lightning wallet at a toggle. Same seed, no channel management, no force closes, fee-less on-chain deposits. One listener literally opened a Cake Wallet during the show. Max called it "even me proof" which is honestly the best endorsement.
The Spark vs Arc comparison is the most balanced take I have heard on this -- Seth gives Arc credit while being honest about the mobile trade-offs. And the section on whether Spark qualifies as self-custodial is worth the listen whether you agree or not.
