Ledger reportedly asked the Zcash community for a $250,000 grant just to add shielded support to their device. Foundation is going the opposite direction with Passport Prime -- an open app platform where developers build sandboxed apps without anyone's permission. Passport Prime is finally shipping to customers, and we had Foundation CEO Zach Herbert on #FREEDOMTECHFRIDAY to dig into the whole story. 3 years of building a completely new Rust-based operating system from scratch. A post-quantum encrypted Bluetooth protocol that starts with an airgapped QR code handshake. An open app platform where developers can build sandboxed apps without Foundation reviewing the code. All assembled domestically in the US. Seth (@Seth For Privacy), who used to work at Foundation and is now COO at Cake Wallet, said it plainly: "There is nothing that competes with this right now."
