🍂 Fall is my favorite color! GM from the #dogstr. As a ‘retired’ personal dog trainer there are LOTS of dogs I hold close to my heart. These days I still spend more time with dogs than I do humans. These specific ones are my favorite. These are mine and today I am thankful for them. Little Maggie is our 10 yr old, diabetic maltipoo. She is the HBIC. We have had her about 3 yrs. She was a foster failure. She is doing GREAT on her diabetic journey and got an A+ at her recent check up, aside from some cloudy vision and arthritis. Ranger is my 7yr old ACD. He’s the best worst dog ever. The reason I went down the rabbit hole of dog training. Still a real life terrorist, but boy is he reliable. Everyone’s afraid of the gsd, but this whitetrash Malinois would pay the ultimate sacrifice for my safety 100x before the gsd would. Jake is my 6yo GSD. I inherited him in a divorce last year, but I’ve been in his life as his trainer and sitter since 8wks. He is the epitome of a male gsd (iykyk🤪). He’s is my shadow and constant source of joy as it’s his main goal in life to be a goof.

Last heirlooms of the season. Tonight we’re having Big Mac Salads 🥗. Bib lettuce, spicy arugula, & maters from our tunnel, #CertificedSC onions and local raw honey in the dressing. GM today we turn the calendar to gratitude and thankfulness. I am blessed beyond measure, but when the weather turns I have to give myself daily reminders (bc you know… seasonal depression 🤪) to be thankful and look to find gratitude in different things as there is no light without the dark. All treats, no tricks. Got our first turkey egg! 🦃🥚 As far as homesteading goes my favorite adventure has been these turkeys. I waited a long time to add them bc I heard so many terrible things. Like ‘they’re stupid’ and ‘too loud’. I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to so I went in with intentions to butcher at Thanksgiving should it not have work out. I hand raised and have been enjoying them so much! They are just like feathered dogs. They are so friendly. They are smart and protective. I’m glad they’re here. There were four, but I gave my cattle dog too much freedom and now there are 3. We did dispatch and process that one as the dog was only in it for the chase. But, I love these guys too much to eat them now, so they’ll stay and we’ll adjust our infrastructure (again 🙄).
