This past winter, my small rural town lost power for over a week. The winter temperatures and wind chill was said to be the worst of the past 30 years. Listening to the police scanner, I heard police responding to the elderly freezing to death. I tried to purchase a small propane heater for my living room and all stores within a 50 miles radius were sold out. With all this said, I am working on creating a self sustaining community LORA node using Meshtastic. I have purchased the equipment for the base node and the soldering supplies needed to create repeaters to connect to a larger town about 20 miles away. I would like to meet people that have experience with this or open to ways of community building, as I’d like to create a small civilian network for disaster response.
