Hey @Derek Ross or someone at @Soapbox , is #ditto somehow auto-censoring the Mastodon bridges? My follows from momostr.pink in particular don't seem to show up in my feed...

Centralized social media all faces the "Superhero" problem, eloquently expressed in the 2025 James Gunn Superman.... So you have unilateral authority to stop bad things from happening, do you use it? How do you define what's good or bad? Superman could intervene to (say) end the North Korean government, stop genocides in progress... But should he? And then where should he draw the line then on what injustices he should or shouldn't stop? Whether you think Bluesky or Elon Musk is the "good guy" in charge, it's too dangerous to allow any single entity that level of control. Large segments of both the Left and the Right don't seem to get this.

Most know of Jim Henson as the creator of the muppets. Fewer know that he directed the #darkfantasy classics Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. Even fewer (myself included before tonight) are familiar with his earlier, highly experimental work in the late 60s and early 70s... Including "The Cube", a #surrealist nightmare of (self?) imprisonment that seems to be both the spiritual successor to "The Prisoner" and the inspiration for the 90s #scifi #horror classic that's just "Cube". A man wakes up in a brightly lit cube, apparently a prisoner. Various characters walk in and out, interacting with the man in various ways. Furniture appears and disappears when he's not looking. Has he been imprisoned? Will he die here, as some of his guests darkly imply? And what's up with that strawberry jam?
