Watching MIT Bitcoin expo with the Core panel... So glad that Bitcoin is being managed by a bunch of awkward Europeans who don't know how to use a microphone ๐Ÿซ

Web Client Festivus: #nostria : Still my go-to, but sllloooowwww ๐Ÿข #ditto: Gotta get better hashtag support -- only way to hashtag browse is to select them one-by-one... needs list(s)! #wisp: New to the pack, but no "banned words" list -- makes spam prevention untenable image

Wow, this is big news... EFF is staying on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook though, and they explain their reasoning. Nostriches should take heed. The fight that matters isn't "X vs Nostr", it's "Meta vs Mastodon", and we should be on Mastodon's side. View quoted note โ†’

Ugh neither @Nostria NOR #ditto supports highlights... ๐Ÿ˜ญ But then again, there are barely functional tools to make Web highlights to begin with...

Good discussion with @npub1exqa...rkg7 (zombie npub) with silicon valley Democratic Rep Ro Khanna -- Nick gets some stuff wrong IMHO about the so-called "California exodus," which I agree with Khanna is an overstated narrative. Khanna's correct that the real issue is housing cost, and the real issue under that are decades of NIMBY policies that people like Khanna are working to reverse at the State level. One persistent disappointment I have about the modern libertarian movement is their lack of common cause with the center-left over #yimby, but that's a story for another day. However Nick's right to push back on some of the more boneheaded aspects of the proposed California "billionaire tax", and other ways in which the liberal state is overreaching. It's hard to see how punitive taxes on billionaires are going to solve the fundamental problems facing California.... Or whether that's even the point of these taxes to begin with. Between #ice terror, Iran, #epstein and everything else it's pretty clear Dems are going to sweep into power in the midterms. Libertarians need to engage with them now to make sure they aren't going to repeat the same policy mistakes that will create the next Trump. #uspol #california #libertarian

Hopefully the curve is merely a product of historical circumstance and not some kind of "natural law"... Nonetheless, the goal should be to push the peak to the right. image

Web clients: #ditto is starting to become a serious contributor to #nostria for me... The fast and smooth UI design was always a huge plus for Ditto, but what it lacked were hashtag feeds. Now they've implemented kind 10015, which is better than a kick in the pants, but still not the kind 30015 that Nostria has and what's really essential (IMHO) for good composable feeds. What I'd still like to see on Ditto: * Kind 30015 list support -- allow users to create "hashtag lists" * Composable feeds of these hashtag lists, along with follows, user lists, etc -- don't force users into just "follows" feeds or "single hashtag" feeds What Nostria's still got to work on: * Speed, speed, speed. I still have to sit ~30+ seconds before I get my feeds to load.
