Hey @npub1wtk2...cprc not sure if you can hear this from over on Nostr, but does msep.one still work? "About" page 404's and there's no Github or anything, which is why I'm curious... don't want to rawdog rotten SW #nanotech

Hey @Brian Fagioli since you seem up on this stuff I'm interested in potentially getting a home Linux mini-PC... do they make those pre-installed with Linux or does it make more sense to just get one off the shelf and scoop out the Windows slop myself?
Getting re-immersed in my first "scientific infatuation", the Drexlerian vision of atomic nanotechnology popularized in the late 90's / early 00's, is a bit like doing digital archeology....
The exponents of the field, people like Eric Drexler, Ralph Merkle, Ralph Freitas & et. al. are still active but *barely* online... They have 90's style web-pages, "firstnamelastname . com," that are black-text-on-white background and riddled with 404's. The explainer videos are full dated, chunky 00's CGI.
But the vision for what can be achieved remains just as radical as it was at the turn of the millennium, and with new research by CBN, closer than it's ever been to reality.
Warhammer 40K Joe Rogan is the timeline we're on:
When do communication media threaten establishment power?
TV (news in particular) in the 70s did this, by showing the public footage beamed directly into their living room of a Vietnam War that clearly wasn't going well.
But by the 80s, more media-savvy admins like Reagan figured out how to co-opt the medium to get their own story out.
Similarly, in the 2010s, social media seemed to be genuinely disruptive and threatening to power, but today (at least in the US) seems entirely co-opted or at least "safe" to the current power structure.
Is social media just going to become "the new TV", with a few big companies that have more or less state-sanctioned quasi-monopolies?

This recent @npub1psar...j5uh podcast goes into a deep-dive on #marathon (the 2026 game) and its current issues in the context of the modern gaming industry.
Personally I haven't owned a console since the SNES, and just about everything I play these days runs in a browser. That being said I played the original Marathon trilogy back in the 90's when it was a Macintosh-exclusive game, in an era where "PC gaming" was synonymous with Windows. As such my friends were all playing Quake, possessing a technically superior 3D engine, but also a dull, dirt-brown and black aesthetic, and no particular story to go along with it.
For the past 20 years or so, that's what shooter games have looked like to me. I see billboards for Call of Duty XVI whatever, and it's some grim soldier dude in a burnt-out wasteland, and I think "pfft I'm not missing anything."
But cut to the Marathon cinematic reveal trailer, and I think WOW this is actually different, in a way that the original Marathon felt "violently original" in the context of the gaming world of its time. This might actually convince me to plunk down the petrodollars to get the latest PlayBox5000 or whatever's necessary to run it. But....
SCP Cinematic Universe.... It's gonna happen
