The time is now near at hand which must determine whether we are to be "freemen" or "slaves".

snow and melt struggling for dominance all day. my sister-in-law came to visit her siblings for a week from back east. good to see the sisters together again. its great spending time together, remembering loves ones who are no longer with us. laughing and crying, sharing stories over brunch of our intertwined lives together over the years. made my way to the creek well after sunset. air temp -1c, water 1°c, 4 min cold plunge session. water seemed warmer tonight, darkness a little brighter. #grownostr

air temp 0°c, water -1.5°c. there was no wind this morning thus able to linger for 6 mins. in the creek. snow accumulation was minimal even after coming down most the night. went for a walk around the lake after doing morning cold plunge in the creek. woman walking her dogs, that I met more than a week ago, wanted to know how many times I do plunges in a week? told her i do this daily unless weather gets too bad. her dogs came over to closely inspect my situation. dogs wanted to join me but had second thoughts after stepping in the creek. we both laughed. made it back home at noon, thought I need to cut some wood for the beach cabin. decided maybe next week. #grownostr

started today with another morning cold plunge. wind was blowing pretty steady at 2.6 km dropping air temp to -1°c, the water at1.5°c, shivering pretty good while drying off. we're expecting 7-12 cm of snow accumulation overnight. my cold plunge practice is gonna require some changes. #grownostr image

mixing things up a bit, decided to do cold plunge this morning before sunrise. air temp 2.5°c, water 1.8°c, 5 min session. rainy and windy as usual this time of year. use to do 2 sets of 2-3 min plunge sessions. but I find that the body relaxes, settles down at about 4 mins so able to go an extraminutes. plunges have become a dedication time of meditation and prayer.

my work load caused me do another cold plunge after sunset. most of the winter months will be that way. had to breakout the flashlight. air temp 5.5°c, water 4°c, 1×5 min emersion session. it was raining and the wind felt cold while undressing, but after exiting the creek it felt quite warm.

beautiful today, bit of sun. air temp 2°c, water temp 1.5°c. completed several sessions 1×4 mins, 1×3 mins. water perfectly calm. the creek's water source is feed from high snow covered mountains ranges, with snow pack that never melts off completely during the summer months. feel quite bless to be living near this special place!

the rain continues to overwhelm our creeks and rivers. thus my usual swimming hole was running pretty swift, so headed off to one of our local lakes for a dip. local natives rarely swim in the dark lake waters especially at sunset. perhaps I should've gone to the beach but that was a longer drive that I care not to make. walked down the boat ramp, removed my clothing down to my swim trunks. it started raining harder upon entering the dark waters of the lake. air temp 7° c, water was 6.5° c. spent 5 mins in these dark waters, it matched my mood, a mind set been struggling with for sometime. usually cold plunges elicit gasping for breath and stinging pain gets one to focus on the body, drawing us away from our grasping minds. but I've increasingly have adapted to cold exposure to over past 5 months. so finished this cold immersion session quietly in prayer, with much thankfulness for being alive. wanted to stay longer, but need to be careful about the 'after drop' phenomenon associated with extended cold plunges. made my way back to boat ramp, dried off, headed to the car. chatted with a bystander. he said there was a search party looking for man with dementia who wandered away from nearby assisted living center. he ask that I keep an eye out for him with frequenting lake area for my swims. there are worst fears than dark waters, perhaps being a shadow of your self?

last of the previous snow stirm melting off its been raining quite a bit over pass 30 hrs. lots of fog. the creek level was up running swift. I still went for an immersion dip, with water at 6° c, air temp 9° c. wedged myself between to boulders to prevent rapids from pulling me deeper into the creek. 4 mins immersion rethinking that I'll need come up with an alternate swimming hole for weekend.
