The Walmart creepiness is getting a little too creepy. Bought something yesterday and got an email today about my experience. I used a card that's never been linked to my account, and didn't enter any info at self checkout that would link to my account. I don't even have the Walmart app on this phone (GOS). I've only ever used the Walmart app once on an old iphone while on vacation for a pickup order at a store out of town 3 hours away. (Wifi only phone, no data plan, and on hotel wifi at the time) They 100% have to be using facial recognition across all their stores into a large database.
