Normally I’m a minimalist and travel with one bag. This time I’m carrying two extra bags — one is a daypack, the other is filled with 16kg of children’s clothes I bought on sale in Europe. Why? Because years ago at Mombasa Port I saw how donated clothes meant for “the poor in Africa” get sold instead of given. The people who need them never receive them, or they have to pay high prices.
