Squirrel time! I'll try to keep it short. All numbers CAD and assuming my region (inna woods in western Canada).
Adjusted for inflation from 1960, having a private telephone line installed at your farm 40KM from the switchboard (also assuming you're already on the party line) would have been about $16,000 to $32,000 depending on the difficulty of the run.
Power was similar, though having power on a farm 40KM out of town would have been considered boujee. Having juice installed today is also similar, but considered a necessity. Some jurisdictions actually require it for a building permit, even if you're building off-grid and supplying your own power.
Modern homesteading is for rich people confirmed.

I’d send you a fax but my pigeon is tired.
This is essentially a "how to" for running an organization. You could apply this template for free instead of paying someone like me a bazillion dollars to tell you the same thing. But if you'd rather not do it yourself, or just want some help, feel free to hit me up and pay me a bazillion dollars 😝

An excellent primer on "how to nostr" for people coming from traditional / algorithm-based social medias.

I’ve been doing a weekly company blog for a few months and was including an audio version for those who didn’t have the inclination to read. This week I thought, “wait…these are basically podcast episodes, what’s to stop me from putting this on @Fountain?
I was able to continue hosting straight from my website using Castos’ plugin (which also handles the V4V injection into the RSS feed). If I ever get enough listeners that bandwidth is an issue I’ll migrate to a dedicated podcast service, but for now this $0 option is great 😅

GM #coffeechain. Bread day today. All hail the mighty cast iron!

I was going to self-host my "podcast" (and I may still in the future), but for now I think I'll admit defeat and use a provider.
Who's the most based, Bitcoin-only podcast host out there atm?
> need a thing
> 2 dumb 2 code
> found perfect thing on github
> great documentation
> customized, deployed, working!
> want to tip creator
> only monero address listed
> pukeemoji.webp
> sadviolin.flac

With large cast iron comes large responsibility.

Considering adding video versions of my business's weekly blog. I already do audio versions to practice speaking, but video would give me the opportunity to practice physical presentation as well.
With YouTube being an ever-increasing clown show, what are people using for posting public video and sharing on nostr?
Based for multiple reasons.
YouTube is a company and can do whatever they damn well please with their company.
Since YouTube isn’t based, getting kicked off can be taken as a compliment.
This may force Simply Bitcoin onto a more based platform; ideally a decentralized one.
If no good alternative exists, maybe they’ll help build one 😶🤞 View quoted note →
New strategy I’m going to try out on Twitter/X: When I come across a based post or comment I’m going to comment with “Based. DM me a lightning invoice for Xsats and I’ll pay it.” (X will vary depending level of based-ness.) Let’s see how this goes.

I need to crawl around on a ladder and in my ceiling to do some physical infrastructure things, but I'd much rather work on my lightning infrastructure. Realistically I could do both today but I'd rather be a baby about it.
...
...Damn, that's not very baseposting of me, I should probably do the things and post about them instead 😅
Yeet it, I'm redirecting the root domain of my personal site to my nostr profile, not just the "based" subdomain. I wasn't doing anything with it anyways.
In an effort to keep my social media presence, and my life in general, as family-friendly as possible, I try to not swear. But sometimes the gravitas is lost with alternatives. Do I give up and let my inner sailor out, or leave myself sounding neutered at times?
People are complaining about farmers market food products being more expensive than imports. Bruh, cost of living in Canada is WAY higher than where most of your food is coming from. Also volume drives costs down hugely.
GM #coffeechain. 3:30am. Yesterday overslept and spent the day blargy, today the opposite. We’ll see how the blargy thing goes once I’ve been up for a while.
Being up this early I’m reminded that the days are getting shorter now. Eating breakfast by the light of Level1Techs reviewing NanoKVM.
Wendell has way more deep knowledge of this stuff than I’ll ever need, but even just hearing the words helps with sysadmin things. I’ll be working on something and a keyword will trigger a memory, giving me a thread to pull on.
