Why NASA’s Artemis II mission won’t land on the moon https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/17/science/nasa-artemis-ii-moon-mission The spacecraft that could soon carry four people on a historic lunar mission, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion capsule, will take center stage Saturday, making an hours-long journey from the agency’s Vehicle Assembly Building to a launchpad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The event, known as rollout, marks the first baby steps on what will be an unprecedented — and, for some, perhaps unexpected — path.

Coinbase Pulls Support Night Before Senate Markup Of Market Structure https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonbrett/2026/01/14/coinbase-pulls-support-night-before-senate-markup-of-market-structure/ After reviewing the Senate Banking draft text over the last 48 hours, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the exchange “can’t support the bill as written,” warning that provisions on tokenized equities, DeFi, and stablecoin rewards would make the package “materially worse than the current status quo.” The Senate Banking Committee is set to mark up the Senate’s version of H.R. 3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, on Thursday morning, capping a months‑long negotiation over how crypto will be regulated in the United States for years to come. In its current form, the market structure bill would, for the first time on the Senate side, spell out legal parameters for blockchain tokens by dividing primary oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), with senators now poised to fight over stablecoin rewards, DeFi, and even presidential ethics before the text leaves committee. The markup is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ET and can be viewed on the committee’s website.

What if the Universe Remembers Everything? New Theory Rewrites the Physics rules For over a hundred years, physics has rested on two foundational theories. Einstein’s general relativity describes gravity as the curvature of space and time, while quantum mechanics governs the behavior of particles and fields. Each theory is highly successful within its own domain, yet combining them leads to contradictions, particularly in relation to black holes, dark matter, dark energy, and the origins of the universe.

Scientists Discovered a Way to Reverse Time—and Possibly Erase Mistakes In the subatomic universe of quantum physics, you can achieve things considered impossible in our flesh-and-blood physical world. Things like superposition, entanglement, and even teleportation all seem possible when things go quantum. Now, scientists from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and University of Vienna are adding a kind of time travel to the list.

Archaeologists Found a Slab—With the Lord’s Prayer Carved in It In 2018, the toppling of a tree near the township of Wawa, Ontario, revealed a rectangular piece of bedrock (about four feet by nearly five feet) etched with 225 symbols alongside a depiction of a Viking longboat. Eventually, a local historian came across the odd finding—now known as the Wawa Runestone—and reported the find to the Ontario Centre for Archaeological Education (OCARE).
