Announcing TypeScript 7.0 RC If you haven’t been following TypeScript 7.0’s development, this release is significant in that it is built on a completely new foundation. Over the past year, we have been porting the existing TypeScript codebase from TypeScript (as a bootstrapped codebase that compiles to JavaScript) over to Go. With a combination of native code speed and shared memory parallelism, TypeScript 7.0 is often about 10 times faster than TypeScript 6.0. https://stacker.news/items/1511443

Quantum entanglement detected in centimeter-sized crystal of strange metal https://phys.org/news/2026-06-high-degree-quantum-entanglement-centimeter.html Many quantum effects can be observed only when a small number of particles is studied—individual atoms, molecules or photons, for example, carefully shielded from the rest of the world. But what about macroscopic objects, consisting of an unimaginably large number of particles? Can they, too, display effects that provide a direct glimpse into the quantum world? https://stacker.news/items/1509982

VS Code finally has a serious rival, and it feels absurdly fast VS Code is a lean, mean writing machine, and it might just be the perfect writing app. However, the program in its stock form can be a bit underwhelming, and before long, you'll find yourself installing several extensions as you use it more. Because VS Code is built on Electron, you'll quickly find that you add more extensions, and as your files get bigger, the editor starts gasping for air. https://stacker.news/items/1509534

Wind from Milky Way's supermassive black hole is finally discovered https://www.reuters.com/science/wind-milky-ways-supermassive-black-hole-is-finally-discovered-2026-06-05/ After five decades of trying, astronomers have finally discovered the wind emanating from the supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, though it turns out it is more of a gentle breeze than a hurricane. Using data from the Chile-based ‌ALMA telescope and NASA's orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory, the researchers viewed the cosmic neighborhood around the black hole - called Sagittarius A*, or Sgr A* for short. https://stacker.news/items/1503123
