Venerable Martyr Gherasim of Tismana, a beacon of faith in 18th-century Wallachia, fearlessly defended his monastery against plundering Turks. When they demanded the church's treasures, he refused, choosing martyrdom over sacrilege. Enraged, the invaders beheaded him at the altar. His sacrifice sanctified the monastery grounds, and he is remembered for his unwavering courage and devotion to God. O, Saint Gherasim, intercede for us, that we may have the strength to defend our faith against all adversity. #Saint #Martyr #OrthodoxChristian #Courage #Prayer

In the Roman army during Emperor Diocletian's reign, #Martyr Dassie refused to participate in the pagan festival of Saturn. As a Christian, he would not offer sacrifices to false gods. Despite pressure from his superiors, including threats of torture and death, Dassie remained steadfast in his faith. Offered a high-ranking military position if he would comply, he declared he would rather die for Christ than gain earthly honors by betraying his beliefs. He was beheaded on November 20, 304 AD. Holy Dassie, pray to God for us, that we may have the same strength of faith in the face of adversity. #Saints #Christian #Faith #Romania #OrthodoxChurch
