Venerable #Paraschiva, born in Epivat, near Constantinople, always had a heart for God. One day, hearing the Gospel in church, she felt a burning desire to live for Christ alone. She secretly gave away her rich clothes to the poor. When her parents discovered this, she fled to a monastery in Constantinople, later embracing a life of solitude. After many years of asceticism, she reposed in peace. Her relics, known for miraculous healings, are venerated in Iași, Romania, drawing pilgrims seeking solace and healing. O, Venerable Paraschiva, intercede for us before the throne of #God, that we may follow your example of love and devotion. #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer #Tradition

In 1821, during the Greek War of Independence, Gregory IV bravely sheltered revolutionaries in his Bucharest residence, defying Ottoman orders. When the Turks demanded he surrender them, he refused, asserting his duty to protect those seeking refuge. Ottoman soldiers stormed his residence, arresting and torturing him for his defiance. Despite immense pressure, he never betrayed those he protected. He was deposed and exiled, later dying in poverty. Let us pray that #God strengthens those who stand for justice and protects the vulnerable, as Gregory IV did. May his courage inspire us to defend the oppressed and uphold righteousness in our own lives. Lord have mercy! #OrthodoxSaints #RomanianOrthodox #Courage #Faith #Martyr
