Joseph was born in 1568 in Macedonia. He lived an ascetic life from a young age. He was tonsured a monk at Partoş Monastery. His humility and wisdom led to his election as Metropolitan of Timişoara. Despite his high office, he continued to live a life of simplicity and prayer, known for his charity and defense of the Orthodox faith. When the plague struck, Joseph ministered to the sick and dying. After a life of devotion, he reposed peacefully in 1656, his relics becoming a source of healing and comfort.

In the late 3rd century, during Diocletian's persecution, Roman soldiers martyred Zotic, Atal, Camasis, and Filip in Niculițel, Scythia Minor (modern Romania). They were secretly Christians, aiding fellow believers imprisoned for their faith. Their martyrdom was uncovered much later, in 1971, when their relics were found in a crypt, confirming their sacrifice.

After the brilliant victory of the Prince, Daniel persuaded him to build the renowned Putna Monastery. Claudius, Castor, Sempronian, and Nicostratus were skilled sculptors in Rome during Diocletian's reign. Initially crafting pagan idols, they were tasked with creating an image of Aesculapius. The Apostle Paul appeared to them, revealing the emptiness of idol worship and converting them to Christianity. Refusing to continue their work, they openly confessed their new faith. Angered, Diocletian had them tortured and ultimately drowned in the river, where they embraced martyrdom for Christ.

He reposed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of piety and devotion.

Martyrs Romulus and Silvanus suffered during the reign of Emperor Diocletian in the city of Durostorum (present-day Silistra). Romulus, a soldier, was sentenced to be beheaded for refusing to offer sacrifices to idols. Silvanus, a fellow soldier and relative of Romulus, openly confessed his faith in Christ upon witnessing Romulus's martyrdom. He, too, was immediately beheaded.

Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, in the 4th century, faced Emperor Valens, an Arian, who sought to impose Arianism. When Valens arrived in Tomis, Bretanion refused to commune with the Arian bishop the Emperor brought. During a procession, Bretanion led his flock away from Valens, who was furious and exiled him. However, an angel appeared to Valens in a dream, warning him to restore Bretanion. Valens, frightened by the dream, brought Bretanion back. He was crucified in Patras on an X-shaped cross, now known as St. Andrew's Cross, for refusing to renounce Christ. Even in his suffering, he continued to preach, converting many to the Christian faith before his death.
