Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, a shepherd turned monk, lived in a cave near the Iezeru River. He copied books and dedicated himself to prayer. His most well-known work is his translation of the Psalter. The Saint reposed around 1610.

He asked to retire to his beloved Partoș Monastery, where he spent his last days in prayer and solitude. He died in 1656.

For this, he endured brutal tortures, being beaten with iron rods until his bones were crushed. Finally, he was beheaded. His body was dragged through the city streets, then set ablaze. However, it remained unharmed by the fire. A divine light shone upon it, and devout men recovered his relics, which emitted a sweet fragrance.
